A jet engine @ 1 meter makes 140+Db and would probably kill you.

Its a principle that explains why you shouldnt have a cube for a Woofer Box as the waves can "crash" into each other and give variations of 5Db from the same signal. So, I assume if it can negate a wave by 5Db, it can also give you 5Db of amplification. What I have picked up is mainly theoretical but I do have a little bit of experience designing boxes,Heres what I have at home.A single box, with what Im driving into it (~500WRMS@8Ohm) will give about 135Db.Its around 160L (can't remember exactly) and is just over 120Cm in height. 20 Odd mm MDF with some decent bracing. They're mainly for Mid Bass work and the Ports have tuned it to about 55Hz. -3Db point from memory was about 40Hz maybe a bit higher. It is -3Db at 36Hz and 0Db down at just on 40Hz. Then there is a bit of lift from 40 all the way through to 200odd, with a peak of +4Db at 55. The reason I designed it this way was that most MP3 completely lack midbass. When listening to originals, I am lucky I have a pair of 1/3 Octave 31 Band Equalisers to cancel that out The boxes are really optimised for "throw" and mid bass reinforcement rather than anything else. They double as speakers for DJing they're not home theatre speakers at all. They do their job adequately, for home use I'll put together a nice pair of Boxes with some Peerless 6.5" For decent sub-bass, im knocking together a pair of 12" Subs. They'll be tuned to 24.7Hz. They're 3Db down at 23Hz and are up to response at 30Hz. Once again I'll be running another 500Watt into them each.

Noise levels above 140DB can stop your heart and do do hearing damage that is why if you are in a vehicle in a competition and you sound system pulls above 140db you are instantly disqualified.
