Sure, ill sell you a Premium ICC unit that will bolt into a ute.

I have no idea if it will work though!

I have heard you have to re-program the ICC or something along those lines.

FORDTECH,

Maybe you know the definitive answer to this?

I would be keen to buy a premium ICC if I knew it was do-able!

Alright , we have been on this for awhile and what we have found so far is that we can swap it to a Premium system by

1. swapping the whole dash board as it has extra wiring needed for this

2. new center dash panel which has colour screen

3. new BCM

and Ford wont do it for us but let me know that I can and it is only going to cost $900 + my labour

Im guessing this includes giving back the old one ????

Get this , Ford tell me they cant order a new RTV with premium system but . . they will give me a firmont so I can swap the two dashes out and then give back the firmont with the sh1t system in it.

What gives ? who would buy a fairmont with base system ?

Hi,

We have upgraded an xr6 with the standard audio to premium sound without any problems.

The only catch is to keep the original body computer and to get the new audio system coded. Apart from that all other functions including heater work as per normal.

My guess is that you can upgrade regardless of wiring loom - even ute.

Cheers

Did you do the upgrade youself ? what system did you have in there to start with and what did it cost you ?

The prestige which has 6 disc in dash apparently is upgradable without dramas but the premium requires more than what the base system has.

Thanks for posting.

KAL, You might find this more difficult than you think. The Fairmont has the dual zone climate control and premium audio. It also has trip computer and traction control functions. I doubt that a RTV has the needed wiring to give you these options. You might find yourself chasing wires all over the place. You might find it cheaper to just put an aftermarket system in where the tissuebox is or in the glovebox as it would cost a lot less and probably be better.

I came into this knowing it could not be done , so it cant be any more difficult than I thought , but yes it sounding extremely hard and expensive.

We got told we would have to swap the whole dash board which I think accounts for the extra wiring we need , which does scare me a little as these would both be brand new cars and I dont exactly work for Ford so I dont know what warranty situation this would place me in.

Always good to know these things though. Someone also said you cant put a decent system in a BA when they came out and now look what I did t that hehe
