ONDOLE Member 70 Member For: 21y 11m 7d Posted 19/02/03 04:15 PM Share Posted 19/02/03 04:15 PM I was talking to a ford dealer the other day and he reckoned that ford was going to release an official "boost" kit to increase the power output of the xr6t without voiding the factory warranty...does anyone know what this kit would include and any other details would be helpful too...Cheers. Going on the rest of the (mis) information the sales guy gave me I just dismissed it as BS. I can't see it happening myself, unless they are talking about a Herrod kit, sold & fitted at selected Ford dealers.
Guest cul08r Guests Posted 19/02/03 09:22 PM Share Posted 19/02/03 09:22 PM I have been looking for this information for ages now, and one dealer I was put in contact with has not called me back and wanted to know 'where I heard that'. I think Herrod is the only real dealer backed option atm, and anyone else is just mucking around. With all of us so interested, surely if there was someone out there doing this, someone would know and would be spreading the word...

But then again who knows.. I think Herrod's will be the only kit out shortly, and have bene told roughly 5 weeks before it will be available.. Though they did have an issue with Ford covering it under warranty. And they were going to seek aftermarket warranty for the vehicles.. will be interesting to see how things are going. Apparently he owns a company on the gold coast and ford gave him a xr6t when they first came out, he mucked around with it and got the car up to 300kw without boosting the turbo. He was saying in May you will be able to buy all this stuff and it will be ford backed. SOUNDS TOO GOOD TOO BE TRUE!!!!!!!

Are the standard drivelines upto these mods? Wouldnt it undermine the GT and the turbo 6 FPV are reportedly working on?But please, let it be true

I've heard so many stories about all these companies that were "given" an XR6T so they could mod it. WHy would Ford do that? The cars are in such short supply anyway, probably 90% of customers are happy to keep it stock. All Ford needs is some cowboy tuner boosting up XR6Ts and then have a whole bunch of people rock up trying to claim warranty because their drivetrain sh*t itself. Guest crackers Guests Posted 20/02/03 08:32 AM Share Posted 20/02/03 08:32 AM I,ve herd through mates at a Ford dealership that Ford has a laptap computer that can reprogram the ECU & take the car too 240kw (at the rear wheels), but are not giving the program out to anyone.Any other boost mods will effect manufacturers warrenty. If it then most of the v8 Supercar brigade and many other race and rally teams should know so they can buy their radiators elsewhere.Paul has good contacts with Ford given he races one and it wouldnt surprise me if he has something up his sleeve......
