aps Member 1,505 Member For: 22y 6d Posted 22/04/04 10:51 PM Share Posted 22/04/04 10:51 PM Thanks Scotty and Vern (and to Peter) - my first impression is AWESOME!!! The car is truely alive and on its toes now.I have only driven home from work via the shops and all I can say is the ute is a different car ... power at all levels and itching to be pushed - I remember making a comment that I felt first gear should last longer from a standing start - but now with that much more power put to the road initially it is suited perfectly - that was the first thing I noticed!! I must also note that the car idles so much smoother than stock and SOUNDS FANTASTIC!Correct me if I am wrong (maths is evil) ... but 170 @120kph to 236 @126kph is approx. a 39% (?) increase in power to the wheels ... and you feel every bit!! I guess this compares pretty well given the pulp fuel up here.I am totally impressed with the package as a whole and the exhaust is swoit ... my guageworks guage now has something real to do shooting up to about 9 pound. (10 max?) The bov needs slight adjustment and as I drove into my street I heard a change in the bov and closer inspection found that one of the big black hoses running from the intercooler has come off slightly ... I have wiggled it back on and adjusted the clamp but nothing a screw clamp won't fix (I remember reading a few posts on here with sim. problem)I have not had a chance to really test it (swmbo was in the car) but the long weekend will give me a good chance to really see what has changed about the way the car drives. I'll try and report more later and supply a few pics. I have also turned on my speed alert.Cheers,B.Hurry up weekend ... there's driving to do !!! Damn work !! Brian, The weekend is nearly here so I hope you have a hoot of time and don't go hosing off too many holdens on the first weekend. I look foward to hearing from you as soon as you have thoroughly evaluated the beast. Sounds like you are very happy with the boys from dynolink, would be interested to hear your thoughts. Have a fast weekend. PeterAPS
Guest Basher_tsv Guests Posted 22/04/04 11:28 PM Share Posted 22/04/04 11:28 PM ANZAC League Test Vs the Kiwis on tonight - and a spin in the Ute afterwards ... sounds like the start of a great long weekend ... unless I have a few beers .... and Australia wins ... and then I have more beers ... and then I leave the T locked up ... ah well!!B
Guest Basher_tsv Guests Posted 10/05/04 07:10 AM Share Posted 10/05/04 07:10 AM Guys,Sorry for not posting my comments ... but I am to busy driving now!I now enjoy driving my ute every time I step in her - from that awsome burble that rumbles out when I turn her over to the awsome power that feeds out under the throttle. I have hosed more than enough clubsports and skylines now yet am still having trouble keeping the ute stuck on the floor. If they do get the jump on me from a stopped start it is only half a second before I punch into 2nd and the game is over. One day a bigger clutch might be needed but the little number of times I do work it hard I am sure it will hold up fine. Around town it is just a stock drive. Tyres on the other hand - I am saving now for my next set. Had a chance to try her on the highway and even in 5th you can feel the grunt if you need it - drop into 4th and overtaking is crazy. Yet to take her back in for a look now that it is all settled in ... but will this week and then a Shootout 6 dyno so I can get some other figures. Not much else to say but am amazed at the power and the ute is handling it very nicely. (Now where did I put those sand bags for the tray ?) Cheers,B.

Have you dynoed it on Bob Hawkins Dyno Dynamics Dyno yet ... be interesting to see the power reading in Shoot 6!I hear Vern's putting an APS Stage III kit in his sedan shortly so that'll be a good comparison of the difference the larger intercooler and relocated airbox make over the Stage II's OEM components ...Do hope alls well with you and the ute continues to impresscheers
Guest Basher_tsv Guests Posted 12/05/04 02:39 AM Share Posted 12/05/04 02:39 AM Thanks! Will get it in next week on Bobs' dyno. Just busy at work atm.Stage III is way beyond wild in my opinion after feeling Stage II !!! Crazy stuff - but very satisfying I am sure!!Cheers!B. Guest Basher_tsv Guests Posted 19/05/04 02:34 AM Share Posted 19/05/04 02:34 AM I understand and agree with that Peter ... still overflows with grunt though !!!! I shall ask Bob when I get it done about his software. I would hope it is up to date and he is accredited !! $82.50 for a dyno run!! I want my printout laminated !!!! He is very well known and does a million rex's so I am sure he would be.Cheers,B
IM2QIK Member 84 Member For: 21y 3m 20d Posted 19/05/04 11:38 PM Share Posted 19/05/04 11:38 PM Hey Basher_tsv,Yes Bob Hawkins is an accredited Dyno Dynamics Dealer with the latest shoot 6 software ... it'll be very interesting to see what RWKW figure your ute can muster on that dyno! It's such a shame that 98 RON fuel is not readily available up here I priced purchasing Shell Optimax in 200 litre drums up here in Cairns and the cost was $270 per drum Think we've just got to be happy with 95 Ron fuels by the look of it unfortunatelyHas Vern fitted his APS Stage 3 kit to his sedan yet???? Be a good comparison to see how much difference the larger intercooler and relocated airbox make to the RWKW figure on the same 95 Ron Fuel over the APS Stage II kit in your ute.cheers
Guest Basher_tsv Guests Posted 20/05/04 06:48 AM Share Posted 20/05/04 06:48 AM Put the ute back on the dyno this arvo twice and got a nice solid 238 @128kph (834Nm @95kph). So pretty much the same as it was when first installed (236 @126kph) so am very happy with that. Everything is still rock solid and the car has not missed a beat.Have the option of upping the boost by about 2 psi but then I don't want to play to close to the valve spring limits and is also my choice on general engine care with lesser quality fuel etc.Vern has the valve springs and tool to install them now so is just a matter of putting his Phase III in his car - so should not be to far away!!That is very pricey for some fuel .... but we'll be paying that shortly at the bowser for regular soon !! Off for a Shoot 6 Dyno next Tuesday at Bobs' so should be a very good comparison to Max Power at Wheels.Cheers!B.
