Definite diff whine from day 1 on my relatively (4500k) T. Between 95 and 100kmh on mine. Am putting up with it for the time being, especially due to some of the horror stories read on the forums about replacement diffs!

Exactly my situation except 9000k - think I'll take the same approach.

My first Turbo (Dec 2002 build) had the whine at 90-100 km/h. Dealer eventually replaced the diff with what they quoted was a special order 'quiet' unit. The only thing I gained from this exercise was an out of balance tailshaft. The diff still whined if anything a little less than before. A work colleague also went through exactly the same sequence of events with his turbo.

Test drove an XR8 before deciding on the replacement for the T. The XR8 had the diff whine as does the new T (Dec 2003 build).

My conclusion is that they all whine but not quite as much as all the Expensive Daewoo wan##rs I work with. I'm turning my cars over on 12 month leases so I 've stopped worrying about it. If I decide to keep one though it may be a different story ! I

Guys,

Mine started to wine over time. It started at about 35,000. I have had 1 diff and am still waiting for the tail shaft to be balanced. The new diff has a wine in it also. About the same as the old one. The old one developed the drive line shunt as well as some LSD noises on hard lock - (These 2 were the reason for the replacement)

Considering the time it has taken for the drive line tool I will wait and see if they find a perminant fix for the wine and then get a replacment diff at that time. :smilielol: It is not that bad a present. The main reason I hear it is due to a 90K/H zone near home so I get it every morning and every night when going to and from work.
