Noticed a booth at Adelaide Motor Show advertising newly developed interface for BA screen. VDO satnav fully installed has a rrp of $2799.00. Offered a "show special" of $2600.00 (all inclusive). They said installation of the unit is dead easy so they're happy to discount. I'm not real sure if this is cheaper than the Blaupunkt equivalent or not?

Looked pretty good - pic attached. (For some reason, decreasing the photo resolution for posting has caused some sort of degradation/interference to the screen image - trust me, it looked better in the full res photo and when viewed directly)

Starting to look like a more affordable toy!

Cheers

Looks quite good to me. :ta:

RRP for the Blaupunkt SatNav + BA Interface was $3k. Any competition that VDO can bring into this market is greatly welcomed. :ta:

I was also told that all sat nav units in Oz use the same software as only one company has developed maps on CD - haven't looked into it enough yet to know if this is fact. If so, it suggests that there won't be huge differences between companies in terms of the end result, performance, appearance etc.

Great :bringiton: I have just shelled out $3600 for the Ford SatNav :thumbsup:

FYI Do not forget if you want satnav you MUST have the premium audio as it needs the colour screen.

All you really need if you want just sat nav and no video imputs is the unit, a copy of the software, BA interface and 4m RGB extension cable.

I got the signal converter for video etc however just sat nav would have cost me about,

unit = 1200

CD = 280

BA interface = 180

RGB extension = 59

So about $1700. my unit came with an extra monitor which I will sell for hopefully $200 (will try to sell to Europe due conversion rate). If this works, then $1500. :D

Have you got any more info on this Zeke?

Did you get a contact or a list of what they install etc?

I was a bit hesitant to post details as I didn't want to be seen as "advertising". But, as I have no affiliation with the company and I'm simply passing on info that's available to everyone, I think I'm being a bit paranoid.

Anyway, the company is Complete Audio at Wayville (8357 9777)and Tea Tree Gully (8263 1111) and the boss is Steve Burgess (0412 530 090).
