When somebody can find out exactly what the problem is we can start hassling Ford to rectify it and live in a world of quiet, clunk free gear changes. Ah, the bliss.

Also, changing carefully and slowly doesn't help me none, if the diff wants to clunk, clunk it will. Sometimes it just does it, other times it doesn't in the same type of gear change situation. It's a bugger for sure.

Hmm interesting genebaby, as the dealer and supplier admitted that it was only apparent in T's. You have an 8 don't you?

Interesting as I said to the dealer that surely both cars run the same diff.

Does anyone know who makes the diffs?

I'll fu*cking ring them myself and find out if they've moved, moving or what! :finger:

I believe the diffs are made by BTR. If my info. is correct BTR has been taken over by an American company which I think is called Spicers, who apparently are quite good in the diff dept., and they are moving premises.

The dealer is a liar, but that's nothing new, my mother bought a new corolla which arrived last week and the outright lies they told about the wheels that were on it and the ones she ordered were insulting to my intelligence. But that's another story.

Anyway, most of the manual BA's suffer the clunking diff problem. There are non XR models with it too, so being told the clunk is there to protect my drivetrain from 260kws of power is a load of bull too. :finger:

What we should all do is put up $10 each and send one of the T's with the clunk to a diff place that has a clue and get them to fix it.

Once we can prove the problem can be fixed without major hassels we can make Ford pay to get the others fixed. Ford seem to either not care about this problem or are trying to fix the problem by getting the OEM to make new diffs that do not clunk. I bet the problem is just freeplay and this can be fixed by a diff specialist without to much expense.

May be if you yell loud enough at your dealers they may even agree to pay for the diff place to fix the problem.

That could work, and a free play problem sounds likely. Ford are lying saying it's a feature, if it was, it would do one or the other ALL the time. :finger::finger::beerchug:
