Hi all,

It’s worth noting though that the “symptom” he described wasn’t a whine or such coming from the diff but rather a rapid “clunk” from the rear of the drive shaft. He also indicated that backlash clunk should only be noticeable on a manual and that if I were concerned perhaps an auto would be the go…….

Welcome 'Elvis', I have an auto and I have the clunk.

BTW I have taken mine back to the dealer and the latest is the drive shaft and tail shafts will need to be replaced (2nd time for the tail shafts), booked in early next week. Fingers crossed !!!! Interesting how others are getting the diff replaced and it ends up worse, the actual problem maybe in the drivetrain????

Good Luck I hope u get a good one.

Guys can you tell me does it mainly happen when the car is cold?.

last week twice after leaving the driveway to end of street braking in performance mode auto I felt two knocks from rear of car as though it was downshifting ? buy it self . At the time I thought it was my bag in the boot knocking back of back seat under brakes .Hasn't happened since and hope it does'nt again but does this describe the clunk under brakes?

What's a charvel??

Has it got something to do with breas*s?

How does one abuse them? And do they like it?

A Charvel is one of the best guitars ever. They love it when you play them hard.

Be careful though, cause most of the ones you see won't be the USA Made ones, which rule.

I will be abusing a Charvel or two at a gig tonight, can't wait!

Guys I had my xr6t manual in the dealer the other day for some warranty issues 1 of which was a clunky driveline. After rectifying most of the issues they informed me that the clunk was the diff and they had ordered a new 1. I am unsure what they did 2 my car and will have 2 confirm it with them but the driveline is now free of any clunking type noise!!! After reading other reports r.e. diff replacement I am now loath 2 replace what seems to me to be a perfectly functioning diff. The noise 2 me seems to be comeing from the clutch area!!! It usually happens when cold changing from 1st to 2nd & also when changing down gears or when not entirely smooth with gear changes. 1 of the other issues I had rectified was the stalling and rough idle. Don't know if this had anything 2 do with rectifiying the clunk but the car felt like a totally different animal(much better than before)?

I get it in my Ute too, worse after taking it down the 1/4... A mate had the issue in his F6, but apparently it was a bushing in the driveline, I assume this was the tailshaft bushing where the two piece meets. He said it was a new car after it was replace. Might investigate this...
