Side by side? If you had, I’d suggest you would not have made that comment.

I love the bulge, but I wouldn't go to the trouble of actually getting a new bonnet if I had an XR6T. This is what really sh*ts me about some people - you cannot respect the love someone has for their car, and the work/money they've put into it. Even if I don't like Jap four-bangers (not my cup of tea), if I see a sensibly and extensively modified WRX, Skyline or whatever, I will respect the amount of work that has gone into that car! Some people need to learn how to live and let live! Also, it's scary to see this XR6T vs XR8 rivalry that's going on. Why? Why is it that people think that one of the cars is better than the other? They're not - they're different to one another, not better or worse. They are intended to cater for different segments of the market, not better each other. I love both cars because they are both high performance Falcons and both are kicking serious (Holden) arse in the marketplace, and on the road. Guest MrSparkle Guests Posted 20/02/03 11:25 PM Share Posted 20/02/03 11:25 PM I wouldn't be one to fit the XR8 bonnet to the turbo, even to provide some extra clearance for alledged modifications (albeit in the wrong direction), for a number of reasons. I love the bulged bonnet, even moreso than the unbulged one, it really does look tough and gives you an inspiring view from the drivers seat. Obstructing the view? Phht - unless you're a midget with the seat fully lowered, it obstructs sweet FA.For those who would still go ahead with the bonnet conversion, even if you can get around providing a VIN number to a dealership, you will be paying $1300 + GST for the privilege of being largely frowned upon. Guest JESMAL Guests Posted 21/02/03 01:36 AM Share Posted 21/02/03 01:36 AM Mr PLOW is right...yeah, I guess it's up to the individual, XR8 bonnet bulge or not...I like it personally. Look at it this way, it looks good on the GTs...why wouldn't it look good on an XR6T? It's totally up to the owner. Afterall, its customising that makes on car different from another. As for the XR6T versus XR8 rivalry. I agree, Mr PLOW is spot on. The cars appeal to two very different segments. Both are FARKIN good cars, and we should be proud of FORD for coming up with two HSV-"GOBBLERS". It's the same when people complained about MOTOR magazine's comparsion of XR6T with Holden's SS Commodore...WTF! One's an 8 and anothers a turbo 6! There's no gurantee that the XR6T will kick ass an XR8, and similarly the other way round. Who know what people put under their bonnet these days right? This kind of talk is not relevant anymore. Sure they are both nice cars but I disagree with the XR8 Vs XR6T thing. Your extra $8k only gets you 2more cylinders, different gearbox and bonnet. Power wise they are virtually the same, and on the road only a poor gear change would separate them. As far as market, I see them fighting for the same people, sports orientated large family sedan. In fact prior to the BA I was looking at the XR8 Vs SS. Thank God for the BA.Either the XR6T has under promised and over delivered or the XR8 has over promised and under delivered. Or maybe a little both. For and extra $8k, performance power and handling all go to the XR6T.If we believe the marketing, aussies love V8s. And for a 260kw XR8 to have simular 1/4mile performance as a 235kw SS or CV8, that to me is underdelivered. Now I'm not one to toe the line that performance is only measured in 1/4mile times. But at the end of the day, you have to have some benchmarks.
