Phantom Drivers - Paint Quality

Only had mine about a month. I have a couple of very small chips (unfortunately one is in the middle of a door) and a few buff marks in the clear coat that have all been there from new, otherwise I'm happy with the overall paint quality.

Ford are going to fix these issues on the 3k service.

Do you have the paint protection, (ming or whatever?) I drove mine from Sydney to Darwin without getting stone chips.

paint protection does not offer any more resistance to stone chipping  it is just a protection from oxidisation and the like :hiwelcome:

I agree.

Everyone's talking like paint protection is a bullet proof vest or something.

I don't think it being Phantom has anything to do with getting stone chips, the chips are just more noticable on dark colours.

The "paint protection" dealers sell for about $500 is a huge waste of money. It will protect you from stone chips as much as polish would protect your car....in other words no protection from impact of stone chips.

Your all probably right - being Phantom just shows them up more - why oh why they use white as the undercoat!!!.

Problem is these pinpricks are going all the way to base metal so I'm worried about water getting into layer between paint and skin.

It may well mean a visit by Mr Chips to repair - I hope not :(

White you say?

Here I was being led to believe that the undercoat on Falcons was the grand ol HgAg?

Have I been misled?

Oh the Humanity!

Seriously though, I have a Phantom, and I use a Car Bra for Highway or country driving, and check the car during its once a week car wash! Nip the problem in the bud as it were!

I feel all your pain. Phantom, although it is a fantasic eye candy colour, it's A PAIN IN THE ARSE :finger:

I too have had thin paint areas. It was resprayed under warranty, boot and spoiler only had one coat, metal shavings and jagged edges under the paint on the boot.

Front of the car, stone chips go to metal (Or plastic on the front bumper). Waiting for the next car wash to add touch up paint on the really bad ones.

Car Bra, hmmmm, wish I had one.
