:ermm:

great to have another T driver around.

I am going throught the same excersise atthe moment, and from what I am reading the motul turbolight 4100 looks like good stuff.

I haven't tried it yet. I will when I work out how to change the oil!

Picking up delivery of Redline 10w-40 next week before 15k service, reason being as I'm a field tech I'm on the road most of the time and give the T heaps between jobs, problem is about a min after getting back into the car I can small this burnt smell, dunno if its oil cookin after switching her off as the T has no turbo timer or if its from the air con, you can only smell it for a few seconds then disappears, anyway going the Redline next week.

Why are you going to start using the wrong viscosity?

I think using the right viscosity is more important than the brand.

I am very doubtful that any halfway decent oil can make the car feel or drive differently to any other oil. Happy to be proved wrong though'. Of course, engine wear etc is another story. What I'm talking about is what you feel from the driver's seat.

I think using the right viscosity is more important than the brand.

I spoke to peter warren, and they tell me they use Shell Helix Plus (15W/50) - semi synthetic

that's what ive used in my car

PS - Changing the viscosity of the oil at higher temps (ie, in my case the 50 from 40) isnt bad because it just means that the oil will flow better at high temps. What I have found out (through reseach and speaking to various people) is that you should leave the viscosity at low temps as is recommended by the manufacturer (is the 15). It seems that anything under that is a bit too thin for cold starts and is meant to be bad for the engine (ie, not enough lub)

I dont know how correct that statement is, please correct me if I am wrong.

Emailed castrol and they are recommending FORMULA R 0W/40 ...Never had a problem with castrol so I'm sticking with them.... ;)

Who ever told you that has stuffed it up!

I spoke to Castrols VIC rep at work here one day and he said I6's use Magnatec (10W-30) and I6T's use GTX3 (15W-40).

There's no way I would be putting 0W-40 in my T! Obviously you can do whatever you want with yours. :pics:
