Hi guys,

Just wanted to pick brains..

Which is the better induction, APS or SS...

Whats the main differences...

I ask this as on my lease arrangement, I can get SS but not APS induction, but I will be looking at eventually upgrading to phase 2 (through the upgrade path...) So im wondering of the SS induction will suit the phase 2 installation.

Cheers guys.

I went through this issue with my T and settled on a mod done in WA which changes the standard air box to the xr8 pod style then incopropates the standard T snorkel and also sucks air up from behind the headlight, all ford parts, looks standard and gave 9rwkw on my T and 11rwkw on the GT, its less than half the price of the others including the BMC high flow filter and you can fit it in 20mins. P.S No I don't work for him, but he sells good stuff (all with before and after dyno sheets available) at a fair and equitable price. Why spend $650 odd, when you can do the same job for @ $200 :banghead:

If you want the APS cold air intake you will have to buy the phase 2 kit. They don't sell it separately. From what I've read on this site the quality of the SS kit to suit the BA is very average.

Do a bit of research of old threads and do it yourself for less than $40.

I'm with Geea,

Piping to go from your airbox $8

2 metal clamps $4

BMC/K&N filter $145.00

Grin on your face.........................Priceless!!!!!

APS prefer to sell it as a package, however push Peter and they will give you a price, unfortunately for what it is the price is ridiculous. However if you were getting the phase 2 onwards then it's worth it.

reading one of the other topics... appareantly the ecu can sensor this and compensate for it... I guess meaning that it can override it... can you guys that have this done notice if this is the case... I have the xr8 extra air intake... noticed immediate gain but am now wondering whether the ecu has compensated for this... or am I just getting use to the little extra that I got... your thoughts??

I have the full XR8 airbox, and also the Battens adapter.

Ihavent dyno'd it yet with the Battens adapter, but my last dyno run about 1 month ago is still reading the same power output (increased) after I installed the XR8 airbox.

So to answer your question, no, my ECU hasnt compensated for the increse in airflow. And I have had the XR8 airbox installed for over 6 months now.

As with ms700, I run the XR8 airfilter (Thanks Mick, it works a treat!).

The car feels like it is breathing better and has better throttle response. I'm very happy with the mod and I'm just waiting for my Batten's adapter to turn up (hopefully waiting at the post office today).

The car also has a nicer sound to it as well, you can hear more turbo whine when you put the foot down.

I would recommend this before spending the money on a Herrods or SS Inductions intake.

As was mentioned earlier, the APS intake only comes with the phase 2 kit. They will not sell it seperately, I know, I tried!
