Using CDRs in your 6-stack BA Audio

Some of you may have been following my thread and poll about the use of CDR (recordable CDs) in a BA 6-stacker audio system. You'll recall that I had received conflicting info from my dealer and from within Ford itself as to whether or not a warranty claim would be honored even if a jammed disk was found to be not at fault.

I've started this fresh thread because my original one was drifting off topic and I feel that this issue is important and should be easily referenced by others in case they ever have a similar issue with their BA Audio.

Today I received a letter from the Manager of the Ford Customer Relationship Centre (13Ford) to say: "After investigating your concern with our Technical Service Engineers we can confirm that CD-R's and CD-RW's are acceptable to use with your 6 stacker CD Radio System".

Ford have suggested I keep a copy of the letter in case I ever have problems with a warranty claim regarding the use of (not faulty) CDRs. For anyone here, I'd suggest you make contact with Ford for your own clarification. If anyone does fall into difficulty, please contact me and I'll pass on my reference number relating to the issue.

But the good news folks... Ford will honour warranty claims on a premium audio system CD stacker where a CDR / CDRW disk has jammed and the disk is found not to be at fault.

have you had one jam before?

My T is only 3 months old and I've only used original CDs in it. Never had a problem.

My Wife's EL Ghia had an original CD (not CDR) jam in it about 6 months ago. It turned out to be a component in the boot-mounted stacker that was faulty. Cost me $300 to fix. The EL Ghia's Premium Audio plays CDRs without a hitch and I've never had a problem with them.

Scootre, thanks for the update. I always use CDR's in my T with premium audio, and have not had a problem to date (need to find some wood).

But this info is handy to know, just in case.................................
