If you're going to get an zf it has to be the German 6 speed, the Chinese version can't be tuned.

I would happily run a tuned na trans at 300rwkw. Keep the heat out of it and it'll be fine.

See what comes up. Im going to attempt the mechanical swap work myself… in terms of wiring everything up and getting it driving well any recommendations who I should take it to? Tom Tucker Donating Members 701 Member For: 5y 9m 2d Posted 29/03/25 11:37 PM Share Posted 29/03/25 11:37 PM Manual trans swaps seem to fetch $5k for trans, clutch, pedals etc. I imagine you could negotiate a 1:1 swap with someone, but wading through the dreamers will be tough. Lots of people seem to be opting for the ZF 8 speed swap these days. That's an expensive swap... The only other thing to factor is that it's a fair risk buying a used ZF. In principle, if you could find one from a wreck with low km maybe it'd be ok, but lots of worn out ones out there. And most people that get them reconditioned seem to have issues. I think your idea is sound. In Melb you could have a chat with Max Performance to give you a ballpark. They might even recommend someone else.

I guess the other option would be to pick a box up that has issues ( hopefully for very cheap) and have it built…
joffa1 Member 162 Member For: 7y 8m 20d Posted 31/03/25 07:13 AM Author Share Posted 31/03/25 07:13 AM So Maxx Performance got back to me pretty quickly with the below. What we think? “Hi Jonathan, You can bolt ZF and tailshaft in, run the shifter cables and mount the shifter, we can wire and get the car running properly with that transmission. We can use your manual ECU, the patch loom is $550 and the labour + any extra things we need is going to be approximately $880. Total $1,430. Let me know what you think and we can go from there”
