Now after much searching and research, I can’t find a definitive answer as to whether a 2005 BA MK|| XR6 that from factory opted with a 3.45 LSD is a M78 31 or 28 spline or an M86 from The XR6 turbos and xr8’s.
the current LSD pegs but when on the hoist spins both in the same direction under no load and is in tip top shape. A definitive answer would be mint! Because I’m buying a Truetrac but need to know which one! 🤟

I'll ask the question tomorrow and should have a solid answer by Monday, unless someone else chimes in beforehand.

Had a mate with an N/A XR6 and it was NOT an LSD and spun one wheel, but I can't remember if it was M86 or M78...

I definitely know that the XR6 N/A’s came with an M78 open centre, the difficult question to answer is whether when ‘rarely’ optioned for the LSD out of the factory, did they just change the centre of said M78 or just whack an M86 straight out of the XR8’s into them?

I would imagine, from a business perspective, that they'd use the M86... but hard to say without an example...

From the Tuff Car Parts website

Fitment notes:

  • Can be used in the original single spinner or LSD diff housing.
  • Suitable for all BA BF FG 6 cylinder Turbo & V8 models fitted with M86 differential.
  • Will not fit non turbo 6 cylinder models.
