You guys should try driving your cars rather than sit in traffic all day.

My T usually gets between 11 to 13 l/100k's, I once got 16 but that was towing a car on a car trailer... ;)

BTW I dont pay for the fuel, and so drive it hard...

I get between 13.5 to 15.5 L/per 100k's. DTE reads 410-450 when full. I have done over 530k's on a tank & am stupid enough to have driven 40+ k's when DTE says zero.

Scotty

ps. try you tank capacity out for yourself don't believe it's limits!!

I have made mention of this in another post. I have found the DTE to be very inaccurate. I actually made a simple spreadsheet to calculate the real DTE and L/100km and found on average the figures were approx 1l/100km out and the DTE to be between 50 - 100km out. After many trails and questions what I have discovered is the DTE is apparently calculated on the last 3 tanks average L/100km. (from ford motor co.)

When my wife takes the car to do the shopping, pick up the kids etc my average goes up to 17-18l/100km but when I take the car to work it take me 3 or 4 trips to get it to go down to approx 14l/100km. The actual is around 12.8-13.2l/100km calculated on long term usage using actual fill rates on the spreadsheet I mantioned before. Again I would like to say if it is on the car it should work correctly. As ktford mentioned he has done 40+km after DTE reads 0. Even then I believe he would have only filled 58-60l of fuel leaving 8 litlres left he probably could have done another 40+kms if he wanted to run it dry.(not recomended) My average displayed DTE is 470-495km depending on who drove the most. I often take my motorbike to work so my wife only does the short trips in it pulling down the average.

Manual turbo.

I've been trying to tell my wife for ages that the DTE feature is a best guess and not accurate.

Regardless, on our EL Ghia she has continually run the thing down to 6 or 8 km to empty and then left it for me to fill up. And twice I have had to drive the few k's to the servo with the car coughing. :hiwelcome:

Finally, justice...

A couple of weeks ago she called me from the end of the Freeway, about 5km from our house. She had run out of petrol. I asked her how she could possibly run out of fuel since there was a servo about 15k's back on the freeway. She said, "I thought I could make it home" - "the bloody thing ran out of fuel with 5km left on the (DTE)". Yeah right.

So I drove down to meet her and the kids. She was now in tears.

I got out of the car with a bottle of water and handed it to her. She said, "where's the can of petrol".

I opened the back doors and got the kids out and put them in my T. I turned to her and said, call the "NRMA". The kids and I drove off home. She got home about 90mins later.

Best lesson I have ever taught...

My fuel consumption is lower with the mods( well that's what my trip comp says) although I cant drive anymore with 0km to empty! I ran out 2 weeks ago with the dash reading 8km to empty!

I get 15L/100km now and befor I got 17L/100km.

My usual DTE is about 450-460km to go when I fill up. In terms of actual usage, I've nudged the 15 l/100km mark quite alot, even had about 16.1 l/100km on the first few thousand Km's. Now I think it's in the 14s mostly. But that's just my driving style. Full throttle whenever I get the change :)

 After being on Holidays for past 3 weeks the best DTE was 545 kms and have done 9000 kms. The DTE was achieved when driving to Melbourne for car show then to Sydney. When driving around town the usual fill will show DTE around 350 - 400 and is based on your driving habits from last fill up.

we got a manual xr8, and its done only 17000km, and its avg l/100km is around the 14 point...

dunno how peoples avg could be 18, that sounds as if they on the accelerator pretty heavily...
