Whoa.....Take it easy guys.... We all have different tastes. Some like the AU others don't. I was only really a fan of the XR's and the T3. Some fairmonts with the Tickford bodykit and wheels looked ok too. I wouldn't go so far as to say all AU's suck and look $hit though...

Oh. One more thing....If I had my time again I would still have bought my AU1 XR6VCT. To me it looked better than a 'S'pac dunnydore which looked like every other taxi and I also felt it handled better. On top of that I have never liked the interior of dunnydores, even the current ones. The XR's back then looked a bit individual too - unlike the dunnydore, which apart from the HSV's, all looked the same to me...

have to agree with scotty,cdm,and na thunder there was not much wrong with the au we had a series 1 xr6 vct did 130000 km's in 4 years only had one altenator replaced plus servicing great car handled well looked great.

Ok the forte looked abit odd in the grill but that's all that was odd.

I am with the brothers on AU1 XR's. Best of an average looking lot by a long way and mine was trouble free for over 4 years. It was a great car. Looked ggod too! Pic attached.

Ah, a man with taste. It was a VCT manual. Went pretty well and I got nearly $22K when I sold it last month. It never let me down. Now that said, the BA is is such a step up in comfort, ride, its a complete package.

XR6T Fortnightly payments: base model with prem. sound and a couple of cheap extras Scuff plates...etc.

$420.00 + added insurance costs.

XR6 Fortnightly payments: (Free from dealer): LSD, rear power windows, scuff plates Added extras at our expense: Prem. sound, tint, full protection package, etc, etc.

$367.00

Now for you "millionaires", that may mean nothing!!!!! For us battlers, underpaid, over qualified and working our arse off for peanuts, every bit helps. The mods DO NOT cost more if it's done over a longer period. Also I've said 1,000 times that I wanted the damn TURBO model. We could have done it but we would be stretching money to the point of getting into a real serious situation. 2 years time, the thing will be paid off, we will have $$$ again and we won't know ourselves.
