VL Turbo. While it was a good car, and in some respects, almost like a distant relative to the XR6 turbo (albeit from the wrong stable), I hate the cretins it attracts. The ful sik brigade with the caps up, seat back and only just able to see over the wheel whilst blaring techno from the subs only stereo... Of course, this is a bit of a generalisation, but you get my drift...

AU series 1 forte.

Grille was awful, as were the wheels and what's sad is that people don't change them

Hey Glum when you wake tonight & see a giant standinig over your bed swinging an axe down at you, he's the owner of an AU series 1 forte.

Scotty

ps. sleep tight.

You can try and sell it,then you can put the axe away.and no offending Glum.

Just wait until the secondhand XR6T's get a bit older and cheaper. They will become the new VL Turbo!

Hahaha, well there was NOTHING wrong with our AU III VCT. If I didn't fall in love with the handling and looks of the BA, I would still be driving the black beauty now and it would have a supercharger kit on her for sure. Didn't experience one problem, as for the BA, well, where do I start!!!

Scotty, you would have been proud of her.

Leyland P76

I was waiting for that one. But every P76 owner will remind you, you can fit a 44 gallon drum in the boot

The P76 is a dam fine car, the first and only designed from a blank sheet of paper and Australian built mass-produced car ever. Not a modified version of an American or European car, or a widened version of a Japanese car.

It was the first Australian built car with an Australian made all alloy V8, until the gen III (which is made in the US).

The first to have front disc brakes as standard across the range (with no shudder). The first to have the option of an overhead 6 cylinder engine, the next was the VL Dunnydoore then the EA.

It also had coil springs all round well before the XE falcon, as well as rack and pinion steering well before the EA.

It was built with what was at the time the most advanced sheet metal pressing plant in the southern hemisphere, as a result was made of only 215 separate 'pressings' of sheet metal, whereas most small cars at the time used over 350 pieces. This meant a top of the range v8 with auto trans, power steer, and a/c weighed in at less than 1300kg.

There has never been a P76 with a PCM, ECU or ICC problem.

Perhaps the styling left a bit' to be desired, but from an engineering standpoint it is a good car, and best of all it was thrown together by Australians.

BTW you can fit a 44galon drum and a bale of hay in the boot!

So you can all bugger off. <_<

Q What is the difference between a 'unspecified denomination door to door religious fanatic' and a Lada?

A You can shut the door on an 'unspecified denomination door to door religious fanatic' <_<

I agree with the 4wd comments, a friend of mine (and his family) was killed by one a year ago. He got pushed infront of a landcruiser with bull bar and they never stood a chance.

Had this been for example an XR6T that hit him with crumple zones etc, he may still be alive.

Anyway my 2 cents worth sats that at very least in the city they should have there speed lowered to say 10kms under the limit (at least). And a class 3 licence should be required to drive them.

sorry for getting a little off the topic

cheers

We have an AU series 2, it's a nice looking car.

I just don't like the series 1 grille.

THOUSANDS don't
