Hey guys, I know there have been a couple of posts before in relation to people having their diff changed, in some circumstances more than once.

I had mine done yesterday, and the replacement one is worse than the one taken out. This was even admitted by the Dealer service manager. They said they were trying to contact the company that supplies ford it's diffs, but all they will do is send another one, which could mean that one will be no better!

The first one took 6 weeks to come, so this means I am looking at another lengthy time wait for my third diff replacement.

Have any of the forum memebers who have had this problem now have it retified? If so how, or if you have any suggestions I would appreciate it as I am contemplating having my address based at the Ford Dealership.

I, too, am on my second diff. I bought my T second hand and the previous owner was honest enough to tell me he had had the diff changed. However, the current diff is getting noisier and noisier. When I got the car with 15000k on the clock it whined ever so little between 80 and 90km/h. Now is whines loudly between those speeds and slightly when doing anything over 90km/h.

I've got 20000ks on the clock now and was going to wait until 30000k service but its getting so loud I'm going to take it in early.

At least I'm not alone. But I hope it can be fixed soon....and permanently!

I hope I'm getting a replacement diff.

I keep hearing clunks when driving along in first gear, taking right hand turns, really giving me the sh*ts.

JB, why was the diff changed ? I have a problem with mine and was advised that replacing the diff. can in fact make it worse.

I was sceptical but upon hearing you it could be true.

If your problem is the same as mine I can tell you the latest update on rectifying the problem.

Jimbo

Guys,

I had mine done about 6 weeks ago. The new one is still noisy at 90Ks and may be getting worse. I must add it did take 6 weeks to get the new one in the first place and the main issues were clunks etc on tight turns plus the wine plus a intermitant real loud wine... :smilielol:

The bad part of all this is that after they replaced the the tail shaft is now out of ballance where it is mated to the new diff... Still waiting for the dealer to get the alignment / balancing tool.... (It is now 6 weeks after the diff was put in.) I have not mentioned the diff wine at 90 yet but I think I may and try and get them to replace it again before they get the balancing tool so they cna make it right... Getting grumpier re the vibration each day....... :o

How did you guys go with tail shaft balance after the replacement.. :o

Pretty much the same, small amount of clunking, mainly whining at 95km/h it was gradually getting louder.

I was also experiencing shudder but this was only at speeds above 110km/h. No they did not balance the tailshaft, but said they will llook at it next time. I have not had the car out on the hwy yet but will see what happens on monday when I drive to Ballarat.

Frustrating as this diff also clunks alot more, I have not actually noticed whether it does it around corners though

Geez guys your scarin me , currently got a new diff on order. Mine has a whine at exactly 95ks only, otherwise ok. Might be better off leaving the blighter as is. Dealer gave me some story about the replacement diffs being made to order and are stronger , hence the 2 week quoted wait.

Probably usual BS that we get fed, anyone else heard this ? :gooff:
