Was definitely leaking but remains to be seen whether or not the head gasket is leaking too. I removed the the intake manifold so I could get a good look and also clean everything down.Intake gasket had a fair bit of oil soaked in it so definitely was a substantial leak above the head/block join so fingers crossed. Good news too is that I thought the rear main was leaking but seems pretty clear underneath that oil is running down the side of the block and along the bottom of the sump. The rear main was done by a mechanic recently so under warranty but still no fin asking someone to do a big job again and having no car for a couple of days.So anyway, rocker cover gasket sorted, everything clean, and we will see from here whether it needs a built motor or not. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Went over it with a torch and inspection camera. Good news is the rocker is now completely dry and the head gasket seems to be too.So I cleaned everything down again underneath and came back 20 mins later.Crank seal? I guess either way the balancer is coming off and the seal is cheap. So might plan for that and have a fresh tube of sealant ready to go once I have the balancer off.Should throw a new balancer on too if I'm going to the effort - still has the factory one. Plus swapped out the rad and hoses as the rad was looking pretty average. Still leaks oil from the front So I reckon you are right Puff - timing cover seal. Still, it was worth attempting a fix without pulling the cover off. I cleaned everything down on the cover behind the balancer so once it is off again I should be able to confirm the source.The good news is that since sorting the rocker cover seal and cleaning everything down a few weeks back, the area around the head gasket has remained bone dry. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
