My diff has started to make funky noises some times not often but know it's signs of something back there failing . Wanted to replace it and was curious what'd be best option for being smooth but also can put down good power and do a good burn out when I feel like it *twice a year maybe* , was looking at truetrack gear set but no idea on what one to get .

320rkw abouts . Cheers 2009 fg turbo .

Gear ratio does matter, to an extent, of course... but you can change it if you wish, just make sure you'll be happy with the changes if you go away from a 2.73 (the OEM ratio for an FG ZF).

They'll all work fine with suitable maintenance at your power level.

Lowering the ratio means the car will not accelerate as quickly in lower revs but will cruise at lower RPM; the opposite is true of increasing the ratio.

truetrac or wavetrac.. either are fine... realistically a replacement OEM one is fine, too.

Aren't those types a little on the clunky side?

I had a Truetrack fitted on my last Falcon and the new one also has one, every so often - usually after an hours driving - when turning I hear dragging type of sound which I was told was normal for them by a few other Falcon owners at a Cars and Coffee, that I spoke too.
