THE GOOD OLD DAYS!.. :banghead:

I also remember playing marbles in the school playground.

On the other side of the playground you could also play Handball and we use to collect Footy cards.

I use to ride my bike to school and not even chain it up.

My parents use to leave the front door open at night.

GROWING UP IN AUSTRALIA

I'm talking about hide and seek in the park. The corner milk bar,

hopscotch, billy carts, cricket in front of the garbage bin and

inviting everyone on your street to join in, Skipping, handball,

handstands, elastics, bullrush, catch & kiss, footy on the best lawn

in the street,

slip'n'slide, the trampoline with water on it, hula hoops, stepping in

puddles, mud pies and building dams in the gutter. The smell of the

sun and fresh cut grass.

'Big bubbles no troubles' with Hubba Bubba bubble gum. A choc-top. Mr

Whippy cone on a warm summer night after you've chased him round the

block. 20 cents worth of mixed lollies lasted a week and pretending to

smoke "fags" (the lollies) was really cool & Maison would get you

pissed!

or so we were told.. A dollars' worth of chips from the corner

take-away fed two people (AND the sauce was free!!). Being upset when

you botched putting on the temporary tattoo from the bubblegum packet,

but still wearing it proudly.

;)

Good point Cro. Its called de-regulation, multiculturalism, and political correctness.

But its also what happens when you get a succession of cheats, liars, academics, and deceivers running the country. How does it go ? Oh yeah "No child in Australia will live in poverty by 1990" or "Children Overboard" or "Saddam has weapons of Mass Destruction". Maybe us taxable unquestioning plebs got bought up to say "She'll be right mate" on purpose. I think that beyond all the apparent grief and disaster happening out there we are more blessed than we think, and most people are still fair minded individuals doing their best with what they have, which in the land of Oz in a hell of a lot more than 75% of the new global community, at least for the time being anyway :banghead:

I had a little tear in my eye too when I read that.

I still remember hooning down the middle of our road (it was very very steep) on my Green Machine (remember those?)

I also remember buying throwdowns at the milkbar and one day when I got off the bus, I got a plastic spoon, put a throwdown on it and aimed it through the window, hitting the bus driver in the head !!

Keerrist did it hurt when he wacked me in the head...even more when my Dad found out.

What happened to those days?

I'll tell you.

It started with Gough Whitless.....the man that started the slide of this great Nation. The man that sent the country broke with his uncontrolled Govt. spending aimed towards all of the minority whinging groups in the country. The man that allowed thousands of refugees into the Country that made absolutely NO ATTEMPT to assimilate and adopt the dominant culture of the country (that is called multi-nationalism). The man that made 'guilt' a by-word in politics, policy and day to day language.

It was reinforced by an art collecting homosexual with a sham marriage to an airline stewardess.

These people created a party that was hijacked by ideologues who no longer stood for the ordinary working man and tried to make their lot in life better, but the 'watermelon and chardonnay socialists' that thrive on the 'poloitics of envy' and have become Labor Party apparatchiks and hacks, only aiming to remain in power after the next election, living off the fat of the taxpayer.

The Labor Party has become everything that George Orwell wrote about in Animal Farm.

NSW is now the most litigious society in the Western World. There is a lot of guff about how people in California have lawyers on retainer ready to sue the ass of someone else, but NSW has taken the cake.

Since when is it the taxpayers responsibility to pay for the stupid actions of a drunken fool that dives into a beach and cripples himself on a sandbar !!

Australian Govts in general are a mockery overseas, especially in the US because of the fact that virtually every MP in the Nation is a solicitor or has a legal background.

That's great (I don't have too much of a problem with solicitors) but where does commonsense and life experience overtake legal intepretations.

It doesn't and this is why the 'lumpen proletariat' that has been raised off the nipple of welfare attached to Gough Whitless's Govt, has grown into an ever increasing generation of lumpen proles that want everything for nothing and solicitors/barristers are quite prepared to live a parasitic existence bleeding the taxpayer, making payouts on a farcical legal precedent of "Duty of Care"

The whole social engineering aspect of Socialism has come home to roost.....Personal Responsibility is no longer, the State now assumes the responsibility and makes legislation designed to legislate human behaviour.

Unfortunately, Australia is going to disappear up it's own arse.

Yeah. Gough really did f*ck it up, he was the bas*ard that first gave Public Taxpayer money to those bludging private schools! Which was later used a precedent to give away said money again to PRIVATE hospitals healthcare et al.

Thank you plonky, at least you did call any of the scum that is any politician since about 1950 (save Wentworth and a few others) members of a political party, Whitlam, Hawke, Keating were about as labor as apples and it just went down from there! Labor, PAH, they cant even spell it properly! Latham does amybe possibly have a little bit of promise, down there somewhere!

Doesn't make Fraser or Brownsuit Howard or any of the other bastards any better though! They sold other Major Publics down the sink, Telstra etc.

And our oil, oh god our oil! Can't we process our own and not have prices dictated in Indonesia!and iron and coal and uranium and and and......
