dippy New Member 1 Member For: 2y 4m 4d Posted 30/10/22 08:20 PM Share Posted 30/10/22 08:20 PM Hi guys Recently starting getting a metalic whirring noise from the turbo side of my 05 ba and I'm wondering if anyone would have any idea what it could be... sounds like metal rubbing and when the car stops or is turned off it sounds like it spools down much like a turbine. I figured the turbo might be oil starved. Possibly clogged oil feed filter. Already ordered a replacement however I'm a newbie to fords and have never heard this type o noise before. There is a difference between hearing it spinning freely, and metal grinding however. k31th less WHY; more WOT Site Developer 29,289 Member For: 16y 10m 24d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 30/10/22 09:41 PM Share Posted 30/10/22 09:41 PM Take the air intake pipe off the front of the turbo and gently push on the nut on the front wheel (obviously once it's cooled down or with nice thick gloves on) backwards and forwards and side to side and if either the blades touch the housing or it moves backwards/forwards further than a few mm then it's possible the CHRA on the turbo is damaged in some way (by oil starvation is the most common occurrence in these vehicles).
