WattaBA New Member 11 Member For: 2y 5m Posted 15/08/22 06:43 AM Share Posted 15/08/22 06:43 AM Hey guys, so after discovering my new tyres wouldn’t fit because of offset issues, started looking at more options, was looking at these: https://www.ozzytyres.com.au/wheels/hussla-billz-gloss-black-17x7-5?=4241660545021 was just wondering what is the correct offset for the front? I’ve heard some people say +35 and then others say +45 is OEM. Just want them to fit nice and clearly.

Offset depends entirely on the width of the rim as to where it sits in reality... Those linked 7.5inch wide rims would require ~30 offset to have the same distance from the tyre/rim to the guard (~12mm further gap from the suspension upright - reasonable from a looks perspective). Conversely the 7.5inch wide rims would need ~43 offset to have the same distance from the inside of the tyre/rim to the suspension upright (~12mm further in from the guard - bad idea from a looks perspective)... You can choose your offset based on your requirements around those numbers. There are heaps of offset/width options that will "fit nice and clearly" so you have heaps of options, not just the one you linked. Use willtheyfit.com to do your relevant calculations and the recent thread I made (for a BA XR6T Sedan) has the relevant gaps measured from the stock 17x8 rims so you can see how much extra room you can safely take up without having to roll the guards (or exceed and choose to roll/pump): On 08/08/2022 at 1:48 PM, k31th said: Measuring (reasonable approximations) the clearances on my car with the stock rims/tyres with maximum suspension travel (no shock/spring in place): Front Inner: ~9mm Front Outer: ~15mm Front Upper (to control arm ball joint): ~35mm
WattaBA New Member 11 Member For: 2y 5m Posted 15/08/22 07:15 AM Author Share Posted 15/08/22 07:15 AM Cheers Keith, sorry I’m pretty bad with numbers and a bit new to fitting tyres and rims etc. I ran through this calculation on willtheyfit and decided to stick with the 36+ offset, would you be able to just confirm that these will 100% not rub or hit anything? That’s all I’m looking for really: https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=235&aspect=45&diameter=16&wheelwidth=8&offset=36&width2=235&aspect2=45&wheel_size=17&wheel_width=7.5&offset2=

They might not look how you expect on the car, though. If you can get them test-fitted at a rim shop that'd be your best bet to deciding whether you actually like the end result as it's a lot of money to buy a new set of rims/tyres. WattaBA New Member 11 Member For: 2y 5m Posted 15/08/22 07:21 AM Author Share Posted 15/08/22 07:21 AM Cheers mate, the wheels themselves only come in a +40 offset from stock, to get the 36+ I would have to get them to drill blanks sadly, I guess I’ll have to be happy with them becuase I need to get my baby back on the road ahah

(a huge gap from the tyre/rim to the guard, though) Get some OEM copies if you want the same rims again, that'll almost always end up cheaper than changing to aftermarket rims. What's the actual reason for needing new rims? that can help you to make an informed/helpful decision.
WattaBA New Member 11 Member For: 2y 5m Posted 15/08/22 07:29 AM Author Share Posted 15/08/22 07:29 AM Well it’s a bit of a long story ahah but here goes: Recently purchased my First BA MK2 ute after being a Expensive Daewoo boy for my younger years, drove the car for 2 days before the left hand front wheel flew off in front of me, then I made the discover it was running bolt on spacers at the front *brilliant* 😂, bought some 2nd hand aftermarket wheels that apparently came off a BF sedan, I had read previously there should be no problem putting them on a BA, I put them on the front annddddd it clamps right onto the suspension arm, fully locking the wheels. Ever since have been trying to get a new set of wheels that I can guarantee will fit, as it’s currently sitting on jack stands in my driveway. Was going to go with stockies but with the price people ask for them and the fact I only need the two fronts I convinced myself to splash some cash and get some nice new rims. So yeah now I’m here trying to educate myself about the wide world of wheels lmao. Appreciate your help mate fairly novice with this stuff. Fair enough if you want to upgrade.... You can do custom offset for those rims on that website. Compare the current setup (or original OEM setup like I indicated of 17x8+36.5) to whatever you can get for offset in whatever size rims you want and check if it is within the numbers in my original reply of how much space you have. Decide if you want 17/18/19/20's etc and the set width and then decide if you want the rim face to be very close to the guards etc or sit roughly as far away from the guard as before (aiming for ~ zero extra poke). WattaBA New Member 11 Member For: 2y 5m Posted 15/08/22 07:45 AM Author Share Posted 15/08/22 07:45 AM Cheers man really appreciate it, was hoping to get rid of the spacers and have something that fits, dastardly things those. Will run the math tonight and decide, trying my best to go for no poke. The reason the spacers we’re on in the first place was because of aftermarket fronts So just to confirm, running at +30 offset won’t cause me any hassle with rubbing or hitting anything, and will still look nice? I see as you said before and on willtheyfit they will have stock poke and 12.4mm away from suspension arm?
