My XL SE BA 6cyl manual ute had a very bad shudder on take off. The day after I got the car I took the car back FORD said they had a bad batch of fuel. what a load of crap now at 11000 km car still has slight shudder and now FORD says it is a common ford thing.

any one with the same prob or a cause???????????:angry::angry:

could be the clutch or warped flywheel.

Try to engage gear and very slowly let out the clutch. you may feel the clutch grip then slip indicating a problem in this area.

:( Ford will not do anything, they say it is normal. I have spoken to mechanics and they say if I machine the flywheel and replac the clutch the problem will go. But again ford will not help, and I dont want to fork out money. that's why I got a new car FOR THE WARRENTY

Ah HA, another sucker like me. So you thought you bought a new car for warranty eh? Bad luck if you bought a Ford 'cos they don't believe in warranty - it is a mythical concept to them.

It does sound like a warped flywheel or clutch plate. Your only option is to tell Ford straight out that you want it in writing that it is normal. Ask them to also put in writing that if you pay to have the flywheel machined and this then fixes the problem that they will then pay for the repair. Then go to your local dealer, or one you can trust, PAY them to do the work and then send the bill to Ford reminding them that they promised to refund your costs.

It is frustrating and stressful and you should not have to go through this - but unfortunately it is one of the "joys" of new car ownership. Good luck with it.

Wouldnt have this problem if you bought a auto!

Gee , that sounds familiar.......

You're right there Mick. Instead you'd have sloooow downshifts and flareing upshifts. I suppose if you're an oldie who has plenty of time on her hands the auto's lethargic changes won't worry.

I dont have sloooow upshifts, and I certainly dont have flaring upshifts. And no, im not old.

However, I do have nice smooth take offs, I dont have warped flywheels or clutch plates, and I dont have to worry about getting Ford to do warranty on my flywheel or clutch plate!

:gooff: There's just one thing you forgot to deny ..... girlie :gooff:

Just wanted to pop that one in before Ken

Your lucky you don't have to worry about warranty work on your flywheel or clutch mate. BUT how much mulla did you spend on your auto upgrade? I'm assuming you must have had it done if you have nice crisp up-changes and quick downshifts 'cos the standard auto sure doesn't ...

Here's one for you to ponder Jeff, if you have time to think about anybody else but yourself.....

Have you ever stop to think just maybe there is a reason why certain people choose auto's?

Maybe because of a disability in the family?

In your mind, its manuals or nothing. If people own auto's, they are girls, old, slow or whatever. I will introduce you to someone one day, and then, maybe you will change your tunnel vision. If that's at all possible.

I have never bagged out manual drivers. Never. Just stuck up for auto drivers. Who sometimes dont have a choice in the transmission they can use.

Hey Mick, I thought you started the joke with this post. I just joined in. I didn't think you were seriously suggesting that the guy made a mistake buying the manual. (If you were then you are guilty of the same thing you accused me of). Anyway, sorry if you thought I was serious. I thought my post was so FOS that anyone could have seen I was just taking the p!$$. I've actually praised the quality of the SSS in many posts on this forum from waaay baaack. Like you say there are horses for courses and the manual suits some and the auto suits others.
