It's actually 50 posts, and here is what is said:

From one old Expensive Daewoo fan to another I would be saying dont buy a Late model camira at the moment. Having driven both the SS and XR6T, I would have to say that the XR6T blows the SS out of the water when it comes to NVH. The SS is very noisey over bumps where is has a tendancy to thump and bang, where as the XR6T didnt do any of it, it handled the bumps extremely well, I was rather amazed at the XR6T and dissapointed at the SS.

The Falcons IRS is 2 generations in front of the SS's and this as mentioned above makes a huge amount of difference as the Commodores IRS has extremely poor geometry and will scrub the inside of your rear tyres out, especially when you get a bit of weight in the back. (the Falcons run double whishbone IRS whereas the Commodores run McPherson struts)

The front suspension on the Falcon is also a double whishbone affair that offers very good steering geometry, and unlike the Commodores, it wont rip the outside edge off your nice $500 per tyre, something I wouldnt be happy with in any situtation no matter the manufacturer.

The Falcon also has a very well balanced chassis that doesnt twist much and allows the suspension to do all the work properly. The list goes on however you get the general idea.

You can now also get a "Luxury Pack" for the XR's, this basically means that they base the XR's on a Fairmont Ghia instead of a basline Falcon, something I know I am very impressed with.

Just my 2 cents worth, and dont forget I am not Expensive Daewoo bashing as I am a Expensive Daewoo fan and have been as long as I can remember.

Matt.

Id have to say that the SS Late model camira has some things going against it vs the 'T'.

* The suspension matter mentioned above.

* No SSS auto.

* Interior which has remained largely unchanged for years and looks dated. Falcon interior looks much better, more sophisticated.

* 18" wheels as standard (some of us prefer 17s).

* Mixed reputation of the LS1 V8. A decent engine which receives more bad publicity than it deserves, not as low-tech as some think but still dated in some of the technology it draws upon.

* A general low-tech/dated 'air' around the vehicle stemming from engine type, interior and suspension.

* Definitely over-priced compared to the XR6T.

Overall I like the look of the SS and its latest purple, and Im sure it peforms reasonably overall, but I bet noone feels like theyre diving the latest n greatest unless theyre driving an XR6T...

agree, dads boss has the hothouse green VY1 SS and the interior seats are awful. you could either have the cheap green crap or the leather (at a cost).

And the door trims haven't been changed since the VT so they don't match the sleek modern dash (which is strangely almost identical to the BA).

The guy doesn't really know much about the IRS - except that the Ford's is better. The BA dose NOT have double wishbone type IRS - it has trailing links type IRS. The AU was the ONLY Ford to have true independent double wishbone suspension both front and rear.
