well, compared to a stock B-series/F6 turbo, a 6662 is ~5mm bigger on the compressor side only (and is the same mm's as a GTX3582R), so I'd say 1000rpm is quite a lot and you might have other issues causing it to spool so slowly... are you talking about "full boost" and what is your full boost level? If you're talking about "starting to spool" e.g. making half or more of your full boost level, then it may end up similar... turbo's don't generally stuff around once they've made half their boost to get to full boost levels haha :)

I'm running an aeroflow 6662 with all the other bolt on supporting mods, currently running 393rwkw but I find it quite laggy, it doesn't come on boost till around 3800rpm, my mate has the pulsar gtx3584 and really likes it, comes on about 1000rpm earlier, I've only been running the aeroflow for about 3000kms but I'm definitely not happy with it and will be changing it up as soon as funds are good enough to do so

That will be because of not enough actuator preload or tune related. There are ways of checking it but it's not for the average person, so I'd recommend asking the tuner what's up with it. Your turbo should spool a few hundred rpm earlier than your mates.

yeah, that's not great for spool rate... very slow; should be at full boost close to 1500rpm earlier... but it's not solely the turbo's fault and if it is confirmed to be at fault you should get a warranty replacement turbo as that's just not up to spec for a 66mm turbo.

I only said to replace it if it's 100% confirmed to be at fault. :) otherwise there's something else mechanical causing the problem like puff says.

The turbo was brand new and has only done 3000kms so I'd presume it's not the turbo, so now my dilemma is do I take it back to the same tuner and suggest they adjust the preloaded after they have already told me that's the best they can do with the 6662 or do I go elsewhere? Being in Tasmania I don't have a lot of option tuner wise
