BF XR6T STEERING SHUTTER VIBRATION

Hi guys 

 

I have a problem with my xr6 turbo 

 

When I am in park or drive or reverse stationary and turn the wheel to the right it starts to shutter or vibrate and does it to the left abit also but more to the right 

 

When I am driving from 5kms onwards and turning nothing all great

 

if im really slow turning out of driveway too but mostly worse just in gear of the P..R.D 

 

I tryed to do the left and right with powersteering cap off and got it much better but still noticble 

 

Any ideas

It was a known issue on the BA series and people back then blamed it on the high pressure line being the cause (not enough give or something, similar to water hammer in copper house pipes) but I'm unsure if that's was the root cause?
It was always made 1000% worse on my BA turbo after I (or mechanic) would jack/hoist the front up so wheels were off the ground, the shuddering was bad for a few days then returned to the normal minor shudder.
I did all the figure 8's etc that was advised but it still had a small amount of chatter in it regardless.

In the end I had a reconditioned rack installed from a steering shop as it was rooted which all but fixed the issue...

try running hydralic oil instead of transmission fluid, a ford engineer said they ran into that problem with tickfords with bigger wheels, something about trans fluid not 'shearing' under pressure

This is exact same issue I have with my ba turbo..except when turning left then when turning right from left ..bit not if I turn right from centre .....no matter what I have done still have issue. I replaced hose with aftermarket protorque brand and still same. (Genuine one was 7 year old) Replaced low pressure hose that had a small restrictor in it (aparantly something ford did in some) same. New power steering pump...same replaced rack (secondhand) same  bled it stupid amounts....same 3 different flushes/fluids...same

 

Although I'm yet to vacume bleed it again as mine does it when I turn left at Park speeds etc.  Fine on the actual spot though..

 

Allot of steering places have said that the rack can cause this as they are extreamly common to have pinion issues but in not sure.    Don't want to wast money on a reco rack just yet

ONLY DO THIS WHILE CAR IS COLD!!!!

It's your power steering  fluid needing to be bleed.

To do this remove the power steering cap, Undo the belt of the power steering pump, Turn pump clockwise constantly for 2mins+,

Get into the car and full lock the steering wheel right and then left,

(I put mine on a trolley jack to get the weight off the wheels)

Put wheels back into the straight position, Turn the pump wheel for another continuous 1min+,

Then put the belt and power steering cap back on and start the car and this should eliminate the shudder,

If it's still there repeat the process
