If these people are driving, then most (18yo>) would be classed under the law as being adults. They would all know the penalties with street racing as they would all be talking at these meetings about close calls or being busted. They could go to Eastern Creek on a wednesday night to prove their CRX is the sikest subwoofer on wheels, but they want to make cash and deal drugs.I am glad these crettins will loose their cars and be off the road. While it is easy to say the cops should be busting real criminals, these people are the real criminals. People spend big $$$'s on their cars to launder CASH made from drugs and other criminal activity. I am glad the cops are finally targeting the Habib's of the world in their organised street meets and get these million dollar ricers off the road with their ultra loud doof doof music. You do the crime you do the time It's good to see you don't think they are all drug dealers & criminals, just a certain ethnic minority. Surely you left out some people to offend with your one hat fits all attitude. Certain ethnic minority? One size fits all?Maybe I have conservative views but I prefer to make my judgement on the individual, not the minority group. This is really taking a subject to places I don;t want to discuss at the risk of offending people.Suffice to say the people involved in this illegal activity do so because they have a certain amount of 'prestige' within their minority, they have a level of immunity from informants because they rely upon their minority to form a 'sub culture' that is 'oppressed/villified etc' so their associates remain reluctant to inform and there will always be cries of 'racism' that is always taken up by the media (because it sells) to turn them from criminal to victim.I have friends that have 'rice' modified style cars.....I don't really like the car but the guys are good, they drive sensibly and they just have a different form of self expression with their cars. The point of the thread was that the Police have been conducting enforcement on illegal street races.I totally support this because I know the other illegal activities that go along with the street race culture. Before I joined the cops 16 years ago, I used to street race my GT down at Lansvale and Carter St, Auburn. It was a dumb thing to do, never got caught and made good money. But it was also a different time...it was only racing, there were no drugs, no ramraids and other criminal behaviour.I knew what I was doing was wrong...and I stopped before I got hurt.If the illegal street races were just that...then I can understand some of the queries about the amount of effort that has gone into stopping it.It is the ancillary activity that benefits from a group of people getting together under the guise of street racing. There is even a TaskForce made up of senior Detectives and HWP Police dedicated to breaking up the South Western Sydney gang violence/drug dealing/car rebirthing etc and at the crux of the gang is the common thread of street racing. That's easy, because the pollies and public service leeches know the average 'Joe' will invariably travel over the posted limit due to concentrating on the road not their speedo, then........wham......$50.00 thankyou.......it has nothing to do with safety, if it was they would have more HWP and a more realistic margin for speedo error.Personally I reckon the b@stards should stop being so cynical and come out and say it's revenue raising, the best way they could do this is abolish the demerit point system. They have enough laws in place that if you are really stupid you pay, either a huge fine or license suspension. If you continually do the odd few k's over the limit you get fined if caught, your choice, the people who rack up 12 points and loose their license are not on the road for 3 months, the amount of money the gov'ts are loosing is criminal!! For the 856th time, Police dont make the law, they apply it.I am yet to see a copper book anyone for 3km/h over unless they failed an 'attitude' test in a big way. Lets remember to separate speed cameras from Police, we get booked by them too Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/9654-street-racers-feel-the-heat/page/4/#findComment-102094 Share on other sites

They were quite quck VS commies. Pollies pulled the budget. As we all know the pollies are the ultiamte power and never make mistakes. However they often get on the turps on govt. planes in prohib. areas. (tools)These illegal meets are just that. No marshals no safety gear, no medical staff on stand-by. This would be the reason a mate of mine died 10 years ago as a spectator. I do not need and refuse to say any more on this topic as you would all gather how feel about it.And as for the 100 year old comment that I usually get by the road once a day "why arnt you catching real criminals, where are the drug dealers"There is traffic to deal with traffic. Drug squad to deal with drugs, JAB to deal with kids. Specific sections to deal with specific areas. Simple isnt it. :hiwelcome: Edited 17/03/04 01:53 AM by curious Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/9654-street-racers-feel-the-heat/page/4/#findComment-102101 Share on other sites
