With the unichip it is only able to be used for the falcon and therefore is limited in future applications.

I had a unichip in my subaru and when it came time sell it I cold only get $450 for it as it can't be used in the T.

Very good point !!! I was considering using the Unichip from my WRX on the T but was told that they are totally incompatable. Have you a website for the Exede ? And do they have agents in Melb ???

Woops, sorry !! No, I didn't ... I had posted the reply before I had read the rest of the postings. Having said that though, I rang up APS when I had my Rex and asked if I could transfer my Unichip to the Ford and was told no, they are incompatable. I wasn't asked if I had the Unichip for the later 2001 model Rex or the earlier one which IS compatable with the T (I had the earlier one by the way). Maybe I will buy a second-hand Unichip (they appear on the WRX For Sale forums occassionally)

and get that installed.

Peter (from APS) - If I supply the pre 2001 WRX Unichip, how much (approx) would it cost to install and tune on my T ???

yeec, The earlier wrx unichip (94 to 2000 models) is a version A unichip and the newer wrx (2001 on wrx) requires a D15 version unichip.

Neither of these unichip versions are suitable for the Ford range of engines, the ford engines have always required a version C unichip computer as the ignition signals are radically different to that of the wrx engine control unit.

In short there are 3 versions of the unichip computer that are configured to cover 95% of cars/ecu applications. There are some earlier model Fords (distributor ignition engines) that require the A version unichip. Hope this clarifies your question. Let me know if you need more info. :censored:

Thanx heaps Peter, your reply has cleared up the confusion in my mind !! The only thing stopping me from going to the APS Stage 1 kit is that I will only be keeping my car for 12 months then will lease another new car which may or may not be another XR6T. If I went the Stage 1 route, and I buy a different car in 12 months which is incompatable with my Unichip, would you offer a trade-in on it for the correct version ?

yeec, No problem glad this cleared up the issue for you and others. The xr6t unichip and plug in loom is specific to the ford xr6t and its possible that some unichip dealers could trade in the unichip computer for a different model unichip in the future if required.

I think Trumpys suggestion of selling the unichip computer and plug in loom to another forum member would be the best method to achieve the highest possible return on the capital you had invested :ermm: .

"I have an auto XR6T, with a stage one unichip and its worth every penny, had it for 10,000 kms now and not a day goes by when I don't look foward to eating another mullet haired bogan Expensive Daewoo driver"

That alone makes me want to get a stage 1 - there's plenty of bogans over here in WA. I hope it's available over here. :)
