I want to daily my FG but I want it to move well. What are your thoughts? How does slamming your foot down on 400rwkw really feel like? What about 300? more? less? Can you explain how the power FEELS?

Once you start going over 400-450rwkw, then that feels fast. 500rwkw is a bit of a street dominator. Not many cars you'll come across will be able to keep up. I haven't noticed it at BP at 350 on 98, is that going to put a smile on my face or will I get bored of that?
cat007 Member 236 Member For: 6y 5m 7d Posted 01/06/21 02:23 AM Share Posted 01/06/21 02:23 AM Where are you based? I assumed you were in Aussie...if so, United sells E85. If you're in NZ - you're sh*t out of luck as Gull pulled from shelves mid last year and they have no plans to bring it back so you have to make your own or there are suppliers around that sell drums of pre-mixed E85 but it works out about $4/L..... You won't get 350rwkw on 98 from the stock turbo, unless you have the 'larger' one off a BF/F6. What have you got?
FGeorge Member 79 Member For: 3y 8m 11d Posted 01/06/21 02:34 AM Author Share Posted 01/06/21 02:34 AM based around Bankstown in Sydney There's a united not far from me, I can go there then Yeah I've got the smaller FG turbo so would need to upgrade it to get into mid 300's . How do you feel about Turbo Lag on a bigger turbo? Or is it possible to get a small turbo with better performance? I figure that's probably not an option since the Garret turbo is already a pretty good product
cat007 Member 236 Member For: 6y 5m 7d Posted 01/06/21 02:44 AM Share Posted 01/06/21 02:44 AM Ok - not sure about Sydney. I was in Melbourne and the United's there sell it. Yep - ~300rwkw on 98 from 'baby' FG turbo is the norm - and up to ~350rwkw on E85. I'm 300/346 on 98/E85 on baby turbo. I cannot speak for what they're like on a larger turbo. Garret and Pulsar seem to be the go-to for most simple builds.
FGeorge Member 79 Member For: 3y 8m 11d Posted 01/06/21 02:51 AM Author Share Posted 01/06/21 02:51 AM Do you find that 300kw is plenty to keep you happy as a daily drive? I figure that should be a nice amount of power to drive around with everyday. Are you happy with that in most cases?
cat007 Member 236 Member For: 6y 5m 7d Posted 01/06/21 03:02 AM Share Posted 01/06/21 03:02 AM Yeah 300rwkw is an ok amount to drive around with. It performs a LOT better on E85, even though it's only ~50rwkw more, the mid-range torque is what makes a car feel fast just driving it around without having to ring the balls of it. I was happy when it was stock. Then I got it tuned and what-not - and now I want more.... When I put it on the 'low' tune, it's about what it made stock - and it feels slow. I reckon I'm going to flash in the factory tune every now and then and force myself to live with it for a couple of weeks. Then put the proper tune back in and it might feel fast again! cat007 Member 236 Member For: 6y 5m 7d Posted 01/06/21 05:38 AM Share Posted 01/06/21 05:38 AM I do this - although have PCMTec so can flash the tune while driving..... But I drive around on the 'lame' tune for the most part - and if I feel like giving it a squirt, a few cruise control button presses and back to fun.....aaaaaand then I see the fuel gauge and go back to the lame tune hahaha
