Hey some1 tried to break in and steal my ford.. they destroyed the ignition barrel by drilling it out and also must have smashed the steering lock off.. I have both my original keys & and a transponder remote.. whats the best way to go about it.. can I just unscrew the whole ignition barrel/steering lock unit and replace with one from the wreckers or do I have to do the whole column or what and if I do get the whole column (with keys) am I able to programme the keys myself?any ideas? Any help appreciated thanks!!!

Hey mate

you will need a full new column from the wreckers and keys to suit, from there you can install, and re program your transponder buttons

From there you can swop out the steering wheel and accessories if the wrecker unit is a bit knackered looking

You will have to keep your old key for the door unless by some stretch the wrecker has the door barrel to suit then you can swop that over too

Ohk mate cheers I think that's the way to go, ehy.. was just thinking though, if I was to not worry about my steering lock not working, is it right that I would be able to just remove the ignition barrel and replace with another from wreckers along with the two keys? Or possibly even take a new ignition barrel to the locksmith and have him make him align it to fit my original keys??
