Just an update I had the fix done yesterday. the ASM said that they cant fully drain the fluid from the clutch as the slave cylinder is in the bell housing and is not easily accessable. He said they have drained it as much as possible but that I will have to wait and see if the problem comes back. :thumbsup: which it obviously will as the old fluid is still being mixed up with the new stuff :thumbsup: . Why the hell dont they ever want to do the job properly in the 1st place. :blush:

Just had a look at mine, and yep, looks like water from the Yarra..

Does anyone know what the problem is. It seems that draining the fluid is not the answer. Either that, or I keep going back to the dealer every 2000km.....

The dealer is feeding you a line on that one! I have gravity bled the clutch on mine and if you crack the bleeder on the bell housing your then able to drain the fluid from the whole system into a clear hose and into a bottle! That way you can see when the fluid your draining becomes the colour of the new stuff! Takes about 2-300mls of brake fluid and 10 minutes! Very hard! My opinion is that the slave cyclinder on the gearbox is the problem! The have replaced my gearbox and the cluct now feels better than it ever has in any of the 3 BA Xr's I have owned! Maybe bad production tollerances causing poor fit and sealing? Will never know but I am keeping an eye on the clutch fluid!

I disagree. You can bleed the system as you have discussed, but due to the design of the CSC the old fluid will not flush from the system very well. You will still have severely contaminated fluid in the CSC. The Ford CSC is made of plastic, and is unlikely to be the source of the problem. The Expensive Daewoo CSC is nickel monel, and they have the same contamination problems, so I believe the problem lies elsewhere. Ben.
