Went in for 15000 service the other day with a whole list of problems which im pleased to say my dealer fixed quite cheerfully. (including my brakes) but one thing really raised his eyebrows.

The fluid in the clutch resivoir has gone the colour of torrens water or for those outside SA (parramatta / yarra / brisbane). It was something they haven't seen before.

The Bus is going back this week to have it fixed along with the scratch they put on my baby while it was in for service. But I was curious 2 see if anyone else has had the same problem

Very common. Every BA manual I have seen has done this at about 2000km. The fluid just goes right off. The T seems to be worse than the XR8 or the XT I6, so I would assume it is engine bay heat related. Doesn't appear to affect operation in the short term. For the record, most manual commodores I have seen have done it as well, although probably not as quick or to the same extent as the worst cases.

I never had the problem in my AU so im wondering then if FoMoCo has changed fluid specs. It hasnt effected the clutch at all and seeing as they use the same fluid in the clutch as they do in the brakes just having it heat related wouldnt add up.

Very true I didnt think about the brake fluid, which is right next to the clutch .

Yep the SSS would solve that problem

It would add up when you factor in that the AU had a CABLE clutch.

I have had the same problem! at 6500km I found the clutch was getting had to use in that it seemed to not be releasing right! checked the fuild and was mud! I changed the fluid and all was good, but about a week later it was the same! By this stage the gearbox was getting worse, hard to select reverse, catching on the way out of third and finally crunching into fifth! Not good! Booked the car in at the dealer and within half and hour they had a gearbox on the way and gave me back the car! Was funny watch the service advisor trying to get it in reverse. I had told him only my wife couldn't get it in to reverse! hahah tricked him and made him look like a girl!!!! While waiting the week to get the gearbox I chaged the fluid again as it was getting harder again! With the new gearbox fitted it all seems good so I am wondering if its related to the slave cyclinder that operates the clutch in the gearbox! I'll check the new one soon and see if it turns to mud, but I am pretty sure my other BA XR's have been okay!
