smoking on deceleration but not at idle

Any help would be good have been told it could be valve stems as the ute was sitting out side for ages, is it better to fix or replace with another motor

if you get smoke on even minor acceleration it could be valve stems... it's an expensive endeavour to get fixed, but generally cheaper than a whole motor to do so... just depends on how much mechanical work you want to pay to get done or do yourself.

No smoke on acceleration only once the gas is lifted it smokes

just sounds like it's running rich on overrun... is it tuned?

Not sure I haven't had it tuned the xr6t but I think it could be blow by aswell

you'd get more smoke on acceleration than overrun with blow-by.
