Third gear passes, I like to be in 2nd, up around the limiter, the howl scares my kids, but they will get used to it.

For anybody in north queensland, we have another weekend cruise to Kurramine Beach starting saturday morning 20/3/04 7.30am from the Bohle Hotel in Townsville. Pub crawl, poker run, events night , car show on the sunday and watch the clipsal, then home. Also running out of cairns, details unknown.

Organised by the Townsville Rodders and northern chapter of th GT club of Qld I think.

Top Weekend in store.

:( I'm not even allowed to drive the T... as for modded?.. If you call putting premium unleaded in every 5th shopping trip modded, then it is!

And my poor old "modded" work ute... It has Coldair & Herrod exhaust, & is flat out carrying the drinks out to Calder for 100% & the sedan boys! :finger:

;)

Sorry Mr Wool, I thought it was you as I've seen a few of your posts on the FF site, but it was a member who goes by the handle of Elmer Fudd. :banghead:

bbong, I used half a litre in the first 700klms. On the first night I picked the car up I gave it 4 good hard runs (under 4000rpm) up a series of steep hills here in Perth, I then drove nice and sedately (with the occasional 2nd 3rd and 4th gear windup). Then once I had done 800 klm, as per the FPV run in proceedure I took the car and the other half way out the back of no where, pulled up and wound her out to 5000rpm in every gear, trouble was that I only got to 4800rpm in 4th and was doing somewhere around 245kph so 5th was out of the question. Since then I added another half litre at 3100klm, then had the 3000klm check done at 3400klm, checked the oil before I dropped it off and it was still dead on full. Asked for an oil change at that service and got the car back about quarter of an inch above full (oh those FMC mechanics). I give the car a bit of stick every now and then and now at 4400klm it does seem to go quicker, only have a cat to rear muffler back twin 2.5 mandrel bent hotdog setup and a cold air induction with BMC filter. My auto stage one APS BA Turbo would jump the GT to 100kph, but out on the open road "Forget It" be interesting to see how it goes against the Typhoon when it arrives. I think all cars use a bit of liquid gold, at least no one seems to have the Expensive Daewoo Gen 3 dramas. I check the oil weekly and so far nothing but what I would expect. ;)

Sounds like mine is normal.

Is everybody using the 0w40 oil that is advised. Here in NQ all the dealers are pushing 5w40. I make them get in the Mobil1 that the cap says must be in it.

What do you reckon.

Hi bbong, now they reccomend Castrol, but I reckon either or is fine, which ever way you go it stiil adds up to $80 - $100 oil changes. Mate it sounds like you get double pleasure under acceleration, scaring the kids, and the enjoyment of the sweetest sound in the world :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Charlie,

How many kegs fit in the back of the persuit??

bong mate,

Used about 550mls first 2000kms, nothing to 3100kms, then 5lts!!, will keep an eye on consumption,

Hi Al, am I to understand that your sweet red machine is taking on the oil guzzling characteristics of (dare I say it) an LS1?, or have you done lots of klms or have I misread the 5 litre thing, scared the hell out of me so I had to duck out and pop the bonnet, still as overfull as the dealership left it (about 1cm on the dipstick). Barry Batten has now figured out the computer re-flash for the V8s, he can take the rev limiter up and lean thm out a little, all done on the dyno of course, and a hell of a lot cheaper than a piggy back chip. He also has the Herrod style air things at half the price Herrod charges. I'm trying to organise a re-flash and a set of underdrive pulleys before I head off to Qld, less than a grand. Keep your eye on that oil

Red, do you mean .5 lts, surely not 5lts.

The sump only holds around 7lts, how far down was it when you discovered it had started drinkng? l dont understand how your car could be ok, then drastically bad. Somethings wrong that inst going to "bed in" and go back to normal l reckon.
