I went from Liverpool(southwest sydney) down to Narooma on the states south coast and back, bout a 720km round trip. Man what a nice cruise.Set out at about 6am to beat all the Holiday traffic and picked up my mate as well. Once we passed Nowra the roads were deserted so I just set the cruise control and enjoyed the ride. I let my mate take the wheel for the first time just outside Nowra and boy was he loving it. He just purchased a 2nd hand AU series III and thought that was a good ride. I couldn't get him out of the drivers seat he was having that much fun, well that was until he got done by a mobile speed camera! just as we were rounding a bend it was there. 70km/h in a 60 Zone. DOH! Well he was happy to go back to being a passenger at that point with a few poilte words!Talk about the revenue collectors, coming back in the afternoon we seen no less than 11 marked police cars all doing there bit to ruin hard working familys holidays. I don't mind police but there is other ways of enforcing the law.(except when it comes to my mate, Im still laughing!)Fuel consumption was not to bad, 13L per 100km. I'm not sure but I think that is about the norm for my engine. Anybody else have anygood trips over the weekend? Sounds like a good run buddy, and so far that fuel consumptions seems ok, and good work handing over the wheel just in time for the camera PR!CKS, Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/9544-official-gt-defectors-club/page/19/#findComment-110208 Share on other sites

And they were easily the best two colours on the road.I am already planning my next drive sometime in late may. May head up the coast instead or inland, not really sure yet. If anyones got any good ideas on where I can go let me know.(preferably somewhere where there is a good ratio of young good looking spunky chicks and horny v8 drivers. preferably 10 to 1 but will settle for less.) Just interested in your mod's.I am up to 7000k's and feel the need for a grunt top up.Did you use the ss induction or BMC, I notice you have a BMC filter. What exhaust mods did you do. I am considering just a cats back free flow dual system.Did you put a bigger throttle body on. I am not going to.Am also putting a Herrod Throttle body spacer on. Is that the vortex unit you speak about. How did you work out your fwkw. Dyno before & after?Look forward to hearing from you when you are next near a computer.Regards :banghead: Hi Graeme.Mate I did before after dyno comparisons. :banghead: The Vortex is a CAPA supercharger that costs between 11 and 15 grand depending on how much go you want.I've got a Typhoon on order so its too much mullah for me although, I wish. The mods and increases I have made to my car and the engine (NOT REAR WHEEL) kW gains are.1. Batten cold air induction and BMC filter. 11kW2. Bolt in MANTA twin 2.5 inch mandrel bent Y pipe and twin 2.5 Mandrell bent Hotdogs. 14kW3. Herrod "Helix" spacer 4 kW but brings the car alive all over.4. Batten Under Drive Pulleys 13kW.The best "TRUE" Dyno results that anyone has got from an 80mil throttle body was the SS @ 4kW.Battens tested theirs and it made 3kW, although Barry said their was a slight improvement in low down torque, @ 5 and 7 hundred $ respectively, I couldn't see the value in itMy car was making 306 engine kW at 2500 klm when I began to do then add ons, now making 348.The best drivability gains came from the Cold Air and the Underdrives. Battens do a much cheaper, but just as effective as the SS, cold air induction, cheaper helix plates than Herrods, and also import the underdrive pulleys which are also used for the high performance Boss Mustangs in the USA . Barry Battens number is 0417 918922. He owns a GT and is a V8 Ford genius, he'll give you good researched advice and he won't rip you off.My next mod is a set of Pacemakers being fitted during the week while I'm in Bris. I've done a lot of research into extractors for the 260 and 290 and Pacemaker bolt straight in, they have heat sheilds fitted and the oxygen sensors in the same place as the standard manifold. According to the before/after dyno testing I've seen Pacemaker put the most R&D into their system, they are good for 12kW and only $950 fitted. That should lift the car up to close on 360fwkW.Then, because its holiday time and I promised to have a beer in Geelong with Mercturbo, I'm heading to Melb in early May where APS can fit a unichip and see if we can squeeze up 380kW. Then that will be it for my Beasty. My advice is that before you start chasing power, do some research, talk to the right people and you'll find you can get very good power gains, without completely breaking the bank. Contrary to all the rumour and innuendo, their is a lot of potential left in the Boss motor. It is very partial to the right mods and will make gobs of power :banghead: Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/9544-official-gt-defectors-club/page/19/#findComment-110291 Share on other sites

mercturbo Member 696 Member For: 22y 2m 13d Location: Geelong Posted 19/04/04 04:42 AM Share Posted 19/04/04 04:42 AM Gent's, had a little run up to Bright and districts (did the touristy crap) did around 1000clicks, went with bro in law and he took his BA 220 ghia, machine definately loosening up 4000 clicks up now, so far no probs apart from diff whine will be getting that fixed, (sh!ts me a bit reminds me of an old taxi from the back seat)tried a few different fuels, found opti and vortex to be very good, stretched her legs a bit on some quiet back roads, and had a few "overtaking lane" drags with bro in law, my you run out of road quick accelerating past a speed I wont mention here, got sick of the back seat squeals though "slow down you're spoiling the trip" "do it when you're by yourself" blah bah blah anyway GT is definatley place to be at these speeds solid as a rock, superior to xr6t, and you know your going to stop quick with no shudder, these brakes are awesome, this car is awesome, bro in law couldnt believe the roar as I flew past in 2nd overtaking him, but the old rev limiter spoils the fun real quick if your not watching, anyway as Rick has said, simply an exceptional car, reckon the "T"s a chick magnet, try a red GT anyway Cheers Rob Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/9544-official-gt-defectors-club/page/19/#findComment-112578 Share on other sites
