I just love the design and working on these wheels so much, sporty yet classy and oem rim, so good. I gave them another skim of filler and let dry. I was looking for a simple solution to filling the gutter rash on the rims and this Permatex stuff is pretty spot on. Its a one part filler and pretty much starts to dry as soon as you squeeze it out of the tube. I let the first round dry and came back after a few days and it was rock hard this skim coat I let dry for about 30 minutes and it sanded down with ease. Quick wash to get all the sanding dust and crap off. I'll probably do one more heavy duty scrub and final check before I etch prime certain spots and high fill primer the rest.

I'm keen to tidy up the gutter rash on my FG lux pack 19s so this has given me some food for thought.

Could probably buy a decent set for that! But at least by repairing them they would be perfect. But no harm in giving it a go myself first.

One of mine has some pretty decent rash.MCM also have a wheel painting video. Looks easy enough and if I use cans, I could even just do one at a time and keep the spare on. Painted the lounge room on the weekend after spending a couple of weeks doing car stuff, so maybe I'm free to switch back to a car lockdown project!

You could alsk pick up any buckled or damaged alloy wheel for peanuts if you wanted to do a test run before you do your own wheels. *just read 'mobile': I've seen a mobile repair done before, its not even a full strip and paint, they repair the rash and touch it back up with matching colour $700 sounds crazy! The faces still need a little more work so I'm hoping to get that done mid week and get it all sorted. Back to sanding again with trying the 800 grit on the orbital. It worked well, leveled down the majority of the defects with out taking away too much paint. I then went over it with 1 round of 1500 whole car and tried s new compound. Claims to cut through 1500 sanding marks.. It works, but might work better with a rotary polisher. These are the results.. Pretty good with a little bit of haze.My plan for next week will be to go over the car with 2000 and 3000 one more time and then compound it. Should see a much better results than what I can see with my eyes now.
