Whatever you use, as long as it has a hard outer coat that doesn't embed brake dust or chip easily, that'd be the go. I'm sure the sandblasting places can give you good advice in that area.

Came to the conclusion yesterday that I had to go back a few steps with wet sanding and start back at 800. There was just too many defects in the paint that I want happy and after testing a section with compound it confirmed that I will have to go back and level out the paint a little more.

So I spent the after back on the 800 wet going over the car with a long block and the bonnet, roof and bonnet and hand foam block on the doors, front a rear guard.

Results are much better and I think with going over the car a few more times and working back to 3000 the car will polish up well and have minimal issues.

The first 2 pictures are the section I worked on doing a compound and polish step. Keep in mind this is coming from an 800 grit sanding job. Much much happier with it because I know more fine sanding will only give better results.

The last boot picture you can see the dull matte like finish from wet sanding and then the polished section. White is a hard colour to photograph but yeah.

A buddy of mine moved overseas and left me his dual action polisher and a bunch of products. I was using them without much success and came to the conclusion they had gone off. Work time was short and wipe off was a pain in the ass. I tried some basic retail level meguairs ultimate compound and polish and it worked a treat. I can see myself buying some all new products in the near future.

Then... Doing some research on line I saw some dudes cleaning wheels with oven cleaner. As most of you will know who have used this stuff its nasty nasty sh*t. Get a hint of it and you'll choke. I remember using oven cleaner to completely strip a set of anodized handle bars I had for a project I was working on. So it jogged my memory.

Wheels are at the stage where I can do the rest by hand. Its done a great job and shifting the dirt and dust that was stuck in the rim. 2fae4290a0f0595c84a2d15656c3b747.jpg77e38c650b2ae35418177e783eb36ed7.jpg4ad83d0ac977914e77ed90f566ed0cba.jpg47e8a4da0b75c44074a6a352d850edbf.jpgd62d777738bce027b80153515358742f.jpg2e45fcbdc4020076152c474ee6215fca.jpg

It might look like I'm just uploading the same photos and not achieving much.. Well, 7 hours in the garage today wet sanding. I got myself setup with various grit paper and foam sanding pads.

I went over the whole car with 1000 disc, whole car 2000 disc, 2000 whole car by hand and block and then finished with another round of 2000 on the roof bonnet and boot. The car is looking good. Still some minor defects in the paint and I could keep sanding to make the surface perfectly level but I will keep as much paint on the panels for future corrections.

The pads work and they are very forgiving. Designed to use damp so I got an old spray bottle and filled it with water. Spritz on the panels and on the pads and as you run the machine over the panel you can see the slurry of paint its taking away. They are very fine because a sheet of 2000 is course compared to the 2000 pad. You can see the white colour transfer on the old pads from today.

At this stage I will go over the car with 3000 maybe twice and get ready for compound and polish.

A few additions are some genuine ford floor mats with locking tab for the drivers seat and a cover for the center console. Looks pretty nice, eBay job, wetsuit material.d8d4a5c32e9703c302aa304f7a8626cf.jpgf3383ba72c76f95929285d23e30a7ff8.jpgae44e6eac58e23ef64bc98ba4b2f0c4a.jpgc7d9d6b98b954e25b62f122c83a1b3c9.jpg141619b638e9b1abe39318b8c6680900.jpg69d3ae36956f66e09e4fb4b88f2566e2.jpg900d5f12f88b855a1f0249490e6da246.jpg741f98961da3795448c51d66656f2393.jpgd704080e7a6b06689af9fab6f627e04a.jpg

Ignition repair kit arrived today. My car had the typical 'key not returning' on start up and I had to manually pull the key back a little bit. Pricey kit but looks heavy duty so should do the job well. 535526831fd0fc5c3baad9e3c72e6fd6.jpgdef78407fcd3ea30f435c799b5e66177.jpg

Injectors and pump rocked up today.. Ended up going the 460 and 1000cc on Joe's recommendation.

I am thinking of picking up a cheap fuel pump assemble to modify and prepare to just drop it in when the time comes. Is there any reason why I can't use a bf xt, xr6, Fairmont Ku.p assembly or is there a difference with the turbo models?

Should I get one of the adjustable gfb regulators or drill out the stock reg for now along with drilling out the restriction in the pump?e887b05e2724f00a1496f32f3ce40e77.jpg
