I just bought one of those digital set top boxes, and even though we have roughly 97% of signal according to the box the picture goes on and off constantly making it unwatchable.

Does anyone know of any decent antenna installers or can recommend me to someone ? Interested in finding out what needs to be done..

I heard that normal tv antennas are normally suitable but this is beyond a joke, cant see anything..

Normal FTA (Free to Air) is coming up hazy on channel 9 and 10. All other channels including SBS are clear.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Chris

I've had digital TV since it first came out.

If you have plenty of signal I wouldn't think that the aerial was the culprit.

Normally a non-digital TV aerial will cause channel 10 and 2 to be unviewable/poor quality as these are normally outside the bandwidth of a standard analogue aerial.

Dropouts can be caused by electrical noise around the house, things like: Christmas Tree Lights, Exhaust Fans Turned Off and On, Clothes Dryer etc.

Do you find all the channels dropout?

Do all the channels have about 97% signal?

Quad Shield RG6 Co-Axial cable may help...

I was previously in a rental property and used the existing "cheap and nasty" aerial and cable with good results.

At last... a topic I can actually help some one with.

OK the problem sounds pretty easy. It sounds like you have to much signal going in.

You'll need an attenuator, as to how much, that will be up to the TV guys.

I can't recommend any one in particular, but will ask around and find someone reputable.

PS I am selling my digital set top box ( DGTEC DH-2000a) cost me $795 if someone wants one, its only 6 months old, and hardly ever used.

Nice guys thanks for the info.. if you can find out about that attentuator thing would be good.

You should be able to go to Jaycar or DSE, they will have the attentuator and cables for you.

I had the same problem with picture break up, I just purchased a $40 booster and no more problems

Am I missing something here.....

sounds like two completely opposite answers here
