Nizpro Stage 2 Kit

I'm currently in the throws of tuning a 04 manual XR6T at APC in Wangara, which has just had a the Nizpro Cobra Stage 2 kit installed. Mods so far are upgraded clutch, Bosch 968's, 3.5" dump pipe, twin 3.5" cats merging into single 3.5" system. Stock engine and valve springs so far.............

Ran it up on the dyno this afternoon, and pulled up the previous run as an indicator as to where it was at. 232rwkw.

First run, 305rwkw. Second run, 324rwkw. Third run, 328rwkw. AFR's are starting to lean out a little (approaching 12.5's) so the Walbro pump is going to be installed tomorrow.

The power figure is resonably good, but it's the low amount of boost used to achieve the power which is so impressive. I may have been sceptical of the kit in the past, but these results certainly are impressive. Boost starts at 8psi from 3000rpm and climbs to a maximum of 15psi at 5500rpm. None of this 15-18psi boost spiking shenanigans in the mid range to throw a rod......

Will finalise the tune at APC tomorrow and post some graphs.

I'm itching to fit the kit I ordered a while ago to the F6, albeit I'm running the ASE intercooler I posted in my other thread. A 80-100rwkw gain would be nice :spoton:

It depends on the intercooler design. If it's a direct bolt in replacement then no. You'll need one to similar to the Nizpro or APS style for it to work with the shorter plumbing tract.

After a little more tuning the result as per dyno sheet. The car is still running the stock valve springs as mentioned before.

A couple of problems did were noticed, namely,

1.Boost could not be controlled from 4500rpm onwards due to the exhaust being too free flowing. It would hold 12 psi too 4000rpm, then climb upwards too 16-17psi. Not an issue on a MkII manual, but the MkI's are fragile. The stock dump pipe will be reinstalled to see what effect that will have. The car is still running the stock actuator. We're actually aiming at running no more than 300rwkw @ 10-12psi in an attempt to reduce the chance of trans failure. An engine build and 6-speed manual upgrade are on the cards soon too.

2. Fuel mixture still starting to lean off, indicating loss of fuel pressure. Judging by the fuel pressure gauge the regulator might no be functioning correctly, or the wiring mod needs to be done. This will be checked as well.

I don't know why Nizpro doesn't recommend running a blow-off valve. After the first WOT application in 1st, half the friggen hoses blew off. The owner is going to have APC modify the TB adaptor to allow the stock BOV to be run.

I'm going to get cracking during the week and fit the kit to the F6. Should be interesting to say the least.

It mentions with a Nizpro edit alone, power levels reach 300kw with stock boost, im assuming this is an older article as the Cobra Kit stage 1 now includes the addition of injectors and valve springs.

For those members with the above kit, is it true that you have achieved 315 – 320kw with the injectors and valve springs on standard boost? If known, what where the results with the psi tuned slightly higher to 8 and 10?

I think they mean Flywheel KW which should be about 260RWKW. this power is about the upper limit of the stock injectors, as for doing it on stock boost I dont see how that's possible, as an edit usualy comes with a 8 psi and a 10psi tune to get those power level
