And ive had my wheels on and off probably 5 times since the brake upgrade, and no problems with removal. If I was running the factory 17's, with the factory brakes, id still be using the spacers I'd say...... just my 2c worth.

I'd say your safe to remove em, but they hide the rusty brake drum. You should PM Saleen1, he removed his and painted his brake drums black, ask him how to do it. BTW- I'm lovin our red brakes, thanks for that doco on how to do it I'd like to grab another set of em somewhere, the au looks shockin with rusty drums

THEMESHMAN260 Member 155 Member For: 21y 3d Posted 11/05/04 09:57 AM Share Posted 11/05/04 09:57 AM the black metal spacer is there for to hide the rust that forms on the face of the discs and to stop the brake dust from coming out onto your wheels.Fords are too cheap to put in a dipping tank to paint the discs black, also have a look at your engine block, we use to paint them black too. What color is it now? RUSTY!

Now I have DBA 4000's that don't require painting and a set of standard painted rotors sitting under the house.
