I just finished installing new larger cams in my fg xr6t. Everything went well, timing is all spot on

started the car and it runs, but very rough, I was expecting it to run a bit rough but not like it is, the whole car shakes even when revving it just wondering if this normal while the car is untuned for the cams

cheers

Yes this can be very common, the lifters will need to “bleed” up and down again many times, this can take up to nearly 10 minutes of idle to achieve and eventually you’ll notice it all smooth out

and of course depending on the grind it can cause the symptoms you're talking about forever-more, as that's what a lot of people want from a cam change haha

I will let the car run for a bit tommorow it was getting a bit late to let idle as I have close neighbours.

it almost sounds like a misfire when revving it, was hoping to drive it to get tuned but looks like I’ll need trailer or tow truck

I put it in drive to roll forward and it didn’t stall

I had instant regrets fitting them after starting it but hopefully all good when tuned

Don’t rev it just let it idle

you will hear it change tone a few times as the lash adjusters start to take up under hydraulic oil pressure

if you’ve got nothing after 10-15min then you’ve got a problem

the fact it started means it’s set correctly timing wise 99% of the time unless you’re that 1 tooth out

PS you’ll hate cams lol

been there tuned that .....

You were dead right jet it settled after a couple minutes of idling, still lumpy on idle as expected

I seen that orange ba in person today looks very tough👌
