My mechanic installed a new BTR transmission from RVO yesterday and late in the afternoon when I went to pick the ute up its stalling in drive or reverse. Car starts fine but as soon as you select a gear it dies. Anyone cone across this problem before. Anything need to be reset etc after install. He'll call rvo in the morning but thought someone on here may have a clue. Cheers Edited 22/07/19 08:26 PM by pottypirate

I would be very surprised if anything other than the transmission was at fault here if your mechanic did a complete job

Had it installed and it failed within 50kms. I had the trans removed and pan dropped - chunks of metal everywhere. The converter blew up. Of course, RVO said the issue is with the converter company who built the converter so I need to deal with them for warranty. Long story short, I escalated the matter with EBay and American Express (my eBay purchases are linked to my Amex) and I end up getting my money back. Amex - membership truly does have it’s benefits Bottom line, stay away from their junk. They’ve a reputation for not honouring warranty. I end up purchasing a replacement transmission from Automac in Myaree. This built BTR cost $5,500 but includes brand new cryogenic V8 gearset, custom converter etc etc. Good for 500rwkw. I’ve removed it from my Territory, it’s done around 5,000kms as I’m getting rid of the SY. Will sell it for $2500 ono.

Seems like it shifts hard into 2nd then 3rd just spins up until 3500 rpm then 4th I'm doing 80kms at 3800 revs. If I put it in manual mode 3rd does nothing. Really don't have the time for this should have done my homework better before purchase sheeeetttttt @MR XR6T if you weren't in Perth I'd buy that box. Gotta get the ute on the road asap so can't wait for shipping from west coast.

pottypirate New Member 18 Member For: 9y 8m 20d Posted 23/07/19 08:09 PM Author Share Posted 23/07/19 08:09 PM (edited) Well he didn't return my calls yesterday but emailed me back through Ebay. Said it sounds like low oil, recheck oil and check for faulty codes hmmm. My mechanic who are ford nuts with xr6t's and fpv's as their daily drivers said it took a sh*tload of fluid and the invoice says 10L . I wish it were that easy but I can see a sh*tfight coming up. Oh dear a quick search before purchase rather than after would have saved me a world of hurt. Edited 23/07/19 08:11 PM by pottypirate
