Hey, thanks for the link.

GlennXR6T - your right about the AU rims, they look nuts on EL's. Are spacers costly? I heard they were like $300 'each', and that it was illegal. It was harsh to hear..

Thanks guys

Cizza.

The spacers ARE illegal.

I can give you the name of a forum where people have done it and not been noticed, just PM me if you want it because I don't think I'm allowed to post the name of it :kissmy:

Why dont you get a gokart and do all the speeding on the track (ever tried it) its a good buzz, the g forces are insane.

I did this with with my two boys, 21,18, this year. They both drive and have never had a speeding ticket, my last ticket was in 85

Once you get in to the habit of speed stayes at the track your fine, any gumby can do a burnout ,big deal, go down the track and do some lap times and try and stay on the track.

Ive taken the T to the track and had a ball, you can enjoy the car for what it was made for,not lookin over your sholder for the cops

,every thing legal.way to go mate trust me

On the flipside of the coin:

If nobody was willing to spend mega bucks on engine modifications we wouldn't have such people and famous cars such as:

Gary Myers and THAT mustang,

Eddy Tassone with a TT VH making over 1000hp at the wheels,

Rob Vickery in a TT VR (I think) making lots of power too,

A certain XR6T running 307kph, im sure that costed a bit more than a Phase III or Phase IV......,

If nobody was willing to go all out and spend stupid amounts of money, the car performance game would be very boring indeed....... Horse Power Heroes wouldnt even exist. :kissmy:

If you want to put a BA XR6T motor in a EF/EL/AU go for it! Just remember you'll need a lot more than 15K!!!

ohh this is bliss. :D That Jim Mock guy is fab. Awsome power figures :innocent:

Ahh... that name again. Brings on a lot of debate about credibility of power figures. Many people who fit his kits rave about them. And just as many complain that they don't deliver the claimed power.

Back to your dilemma - you seem to be more preoccupied by what rims will look good than what real performance attribites the model of car you purchase will possess.

Here's my 2 cents, (is there any such thing as 2 cents anymore?).

It is fun to modify cars and engines if your pockets are deep enough. It is fun doing it on your own for the sense of achievement, but if you have to pay someone else to do it you will never be happy because the cost will always outweigh the benefits. AND you will never get any of the money back when it is time to move up to your next car.

Therefore in your situation I would say buy the best performance car you can for the money you have - leave just enough in the bank for insurance and maybe some repairs that will crop up. So for about say $12,000 get a good XR8 or XR6 of about EF vintage. You may get a high mileage AU or even an EB XR8 Sprint - these are a great car for around that money.

On the other hand if you are so intent on modifying a car then you may as well purchase the cheapest POS you can possibly find and budget for completely rebuilding it from the ground up so it has everything just the way you want. Be prepared to keep it a looooong time to get return on your dollars spent.

Turbo6man, instead of the whole Jim 'Mock' modification, why dont I use the EL we already have (on 90,060 kays) and do a 24v head transplant (then buy my mum a s/h 10grand elantra). Unichip piggyback would be needed im guessing, extractors, HF cat and a CIA would be eventual additions.

Im thinking of this as a gradual modification process; something over the span of a year. I'll be keeping the car for a while. Money isn't really an issue - its how I spend it that matters; as in I dont mind spending up if I get results :)

Back to the mods, I really want to know if the BA heads are going to require ECU mods, and if a Unichip piggyback is going to be able to adjust for the vvt or what ever. Im pretty sure the auto wont have problems with the additional power, as the BA's is most probably a mechanical carryover from EL > AU with additional electronics for sport shifter.

Thanks for the replies guys. :)

Cihan.

EDIT:

P.S - if that Jim Mock place is tuning Unichip, they need a credible dyno. Unichip always give a before and after dyno sheet. Whats wrong with this proof? can someone explain.
