$2k will get you a set of Shockworks coilovers. You'll need to factor in fitting and a wheel alignment too though...but totally worth it. Car will no longer have the boaty handling, will give you better steering feedback and you'll have improved grip and road handling, especially through corners. It'll also be adjustable, so you can adjust the dampener settings if you end up taking the car on the track.

I had both Tein and Shockworks coilover setups on my FG's and would choose the Shockworks hands down for a street car. You won't regret it, trust me.

How quick was/is your skyline. I would imagine it outhandles it's power? As in, goes ok, could do with more power, steers and sits really well.

Stepping into the xr6t, you might feel it's the opposite. As in, surely this taxi could steer better and sit flatter and goes pretty hard from the factory.

80-130k, definitely would need a freshen up underneath, unless it's been done recently.

Hey SSBB you make a very good point.

My V36 Skyline 350GT is pretty much immaculate, it's currently running on 9" front / 9.75" rear 20's with Achilles ATR Sport 2 235/35/20 tires and it has Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC Adjustable Coilover Suspension fitted. The engine + gearbox combo (type SP with tiptronic / paddle shift sports auto) is bloody quick and the most responsive combo I've driven to date (and I've owned 14 cars so far).

You're right btw, my V36 Skyline sits and handles beautifully with zero body roll, and it's tight! So yes, it out handles it's performance (as great as the stock 235kW engine is). Approx 185-195 rwkw stock. Also I just clocked over to 70,000 kms (1 previous owner) so the car still feels super fresh :)

Just put a barra in your v36

I would happily pay $30k for a V36 Skyline Sedan 350GT with a Barra 270T supplied and fitted ;)

What a weapon that would be!

Reality called, and reeled me back in...

Hey guys, looking at getting back into an fg turbo manual. Preferably a xr50t. Any potential issues I should really look out for now they are 5yrs old? Also anyone selling I'd be keen...

Most common is diff bushes as long its been serviced well should be ok but always recommended getting a qualified mechanic to go over it.
