My thoughts exactly, its a coz I need a car, car. Don't spend a fkn cent you dont need to. That was why I put a stereo in it, it keeps part of the itch at bay at least...if I'm in a bad mood or something, rather than rip a skid I can just crank da toons and let some metal screams fly. But now I've fixed up the few little things that needed doing when I bought the car it's been incredibly reliable so far and hopefully won't require any more money spent on it...except new brake pads, coz these Remzas (which I ordered BEFORE reading how bad they are for dust) are ridiculous! Buuuuut like me your conflicted, in actual fact your not a "just gets me from a to b" kind of person and have to tweak things and make it your own, coz you do actually give a sh*t. Synopsis: seen quite a few clean BF's at very fair prices, given nobody wants them. You would still be debt free and it would scratch the itch at least. Cmoooon back to us stripey, I mean seriously a farking Honda????? Haha, man the whole point of getting this car was so that I'm not tempted to mod it...coz let's face it, they're super ohmo with exhausts and intakes and sh*t. Any one know of other sources?I've been looking for a BA XR6T 4 speed auto and its just as expensive to buy a written off example from the auctions but all depends on your needs but the auctions are your best bet and then the rest you can sell on gumtree or ebay.Sent from my SM-N915G using Tapatalk

Sikahalv New Member 14 Member For: 9y 5m 20d Gender: Male Posted 31/08/15 11:21 AM Share Posted 31/08/15 11:21 AM (edited) Hey all,Just joined, and currently contemplating whether I should join the dark side and purchase a 2009-2001 Ford FG XR6 Turbo or stick with the tried and tested JDM imports I'm accustomed to (privately import 2001-2002 Toyota JZX110 Mark II).For years I've been aware of the XR6 Turbo's being a good all-rounder... but I never considered purchasing one myself, let alone investing the time to research about them.I've owned quite a few Japanese cars (some of which I've imported) and am used to N/A 4's and 6's and Turbo 4's.I've never owned (or driven) and Turbo I6, but my friend owns an FG XR6 Turbo and that's where the idea popped into my mind once he'd taken me for a spin a few times in his recently new car. The FG's look great (for a Falcon), the interior is spacious and comfortable, the power is incredible, and they're affordable to purchase, service, insure and most importantly they're safe (I've read they're the first Australian built car with a 5 Star ANCAP safety rating). The JZX110 Mark II on the other hand has the legendary 1JZ-GTE 2.5L I6 Turbo engine that I love, which sounds brilliant and has plenty of aftermarket goodies available... I also love the rarity and styling of the Mark II, in addition to it's Japanese character...So yeah... I'm currently experiencing an internal battle of JDM vs ADM... and an approx $12k car with approx 220kW vs a $20k car with 270kW. Both of which are easy to modify for more power, and improved handling. What I'm currently driving is a 2007 V36 Skyline 350GT Type SP 50th Anniversary Edition (which I imported earlier this year) - It's an absolutely incredible car (and the best car I've owned to date and probably will for years) but the turbo bug has bitten me, and I want to get back into a forced induction car once I've sold my V36 Skyline. Here's my current ride (if you're interested in it, you can read the story behind importing it on my blog @ www.v35skyline.com)So... what do you think I should do?Do I go an XR6 Turbo? and if so... what do I need to know in advance? I'm been specifically looking at 2009-2011 FG XR6 Turbo's (preferably with the colour 8" screen and bluetooth option)... If you shop secondhand exhausts/coolers/injectors anywayStill drivable by your mum...as long as she doesn't plant it anywayNot cop bait as long as you keep it looking stockishComfyCheapish to buyStrong motor (mine's up to 280,000km abusive kms now on 320rwkw for about a third of its life) just change good quality oil/filter at every 5 to 7.5 thousandIssuesRear suspension/diff bushes die from stock power, $$$ in labour to fix as cradle has to come out to get at diffHeavy car = suspension/bushes wear out faster and hard to make it handle REALLY well whilst maintaining a quiet rideBrake shudder and excessive tyre wear can be a thing until you upgrade front bushes to Superpro or similar and fit good quality aftermarket pads and rotors (DBA T3 club spec are popular rotors)Fuel use is OK but not great at around 13 to 14L/100km around town, +/- 2L/100 depending on driving style and tune...this is not why you buy a turbo Falcon thoughThere's more but that's all I can be bothered remembering/typing right now. Cheap fun reliable cars that can be made to look sh!t hot (IMHO) if you mod them tastefully and pick good colours
