Sorry guys if you get many of these. Its been awhile since Ive been around the site so having fun reading all of the posts.

I used to have a BA XR6T Back in 2006/2007 and since selling it Ive been wanting the XR6 power, performance and handling again.

Im currently in the market looking to spend around 12-15 grand.

Tossing up between a hi power (300+kw) worked BA or BF for around that price or tonight I stumbled over a FG XR6T that is standard and they are looking for 17k I think.

Also wanted to know what people thought about auto vs manual? I manly drive 20kms each way to work and home a day. Want to occasionally do a track day and even more occasionally do a drift session at the track. So kind of torn between an ZF auto and a 6 speed manual.

Any opinions and experience appreciated.

BA: 4 speed BTR transmission

BF: 6 speed ZF transmission

BF transmission is waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy better than the BA 4 speed. That alone makes the BF the choice to pursue.

If you can stretch the budget to an FG then you might as well do so.

Personally, I'd go ZF over manual.

Hi Guys,

I've got an 09' FG XR6 Turbo with 140,000 kms on it and would like some more power.

What would be the smarter option?

1. Sell it and add like $17K for an FPV F6

2. tune the existing XR6T and be happy.

I guess the question I am asking is a tuned XR6T offer better performance than a stock FG F6 ?

I am a bit reluctant to spend too much money on such an old car with so many kms... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Fg xr6t with 17k worth of mods will chop the hell out of a stock fg f6 lol

But youd only need 5-6k to get a 320rwkw...then need 2.5k for 4spot front and f6 rears. Then 1k for bilsteins...and that's using new priced stuff (save a few pennies going second hand).

But you might be lucky to get 50% back for the mods you do; when its time to sell.

If an FPV is within your means I'd go for that. If you totally don't care about the F6 package (body kit, interior, brakes, suspension, rims) then maybe trade for a lower km XR6T... but I'd recommend buying the F6 and then modding that once you have the money. Both are the same once you spend 5 grand on go fast mods since you're replacing the exhaust, cooler, injectors, intake etc anyway. Tune only an F6 can get higher numbers but not many people do a tune without at least injectors!

Hi guys,

Newbie here. in the market for a new XR6T...looking at BF MK2s since FGs are a little out of my price range. Not many to choose from in VIC...

http://www.carsales.com.au/cars/results?q=%28%28%28Make%3D[Ford]{%26}%28%28Model%3D[Falcon]{%26}Series%3D[bF%20Mk%20II]%29{%26}Badge%3D[XR6%20Turbo]%29%29%26State%3D[Victoria]%29%26Service%3D[Carsales]%29&cpw=1&sortby=~Price&limit=12

Only 7 to choose from. Is the last one at $15k worth the money?

Shooting for 300rwkw but I'm not in a hurry to get there.
