It has now done 205,000km.I guess that my usage may not be classified as normal, as I regularly do around 1,300km a fortnight, as a round trip from home to work. In this time, the car has never left me stuck on the side of the road, other than when I lunched a few engines. And those were caused by a generic tune and a bit of abuse.Given the large amount of km's done in my car, it has had parts replaced due to normal wear and tear (And I drive it hard too). I replaced the wheel bearings at 140k, rebuilt the centre at 180k (due to pinion bearing noise), CV shafts at 180k. ball joints and few sets of rear upper control arm bushes, replaced the King springs and standard shocks with Pedders coilovers at 160k, A centre bearing, an alternator and a Mal wood option 3 clutch. Keeping in mind, the large amount of K's the car has done, my stepfather (Owner/proprietor of a Auto Trans business for 35yrs) drove it the other day. he could not believe how well it drove. He stated, "it drove like new".Obviously I do regular servicing :Engine: Mobile 1 Synthetic every 10kGearbox (6 Speed manual) - Castrol Transmax Z - 40kDiff - Castrol SAX-FA Synthetic - 40kDespite the K's, I still love the car to death. It still serves me well and I would be more than comfortable to drive form QLD to WA tomorrow.Regular servicing is where it's at..... The few that I've inspected have been well looked after, great service history etc. Most say the kms were 'freeway' but there is no way of knowing for sure. Can anyone give there opinion on purchasing an XR6T with such high kms? should they be avoided ? Thanks guysCheerswondering if they were stock or had work done to them,,,, as I think 20k is not to bad a price ,, but if stock then if u want mods u will need to spend up to 6k maybe or more ,,,,,to get it to a reasonable power out put as they are about 230rwk stock depending on the dyno ,,,,,also are they 50th anniversary ones or just stock turbos also changes the price me thinks cheers
xr6newbie Member 18 Member For: 10y 7m 27d Posted 28/03/14 12:55 AM Share Posted 28/03/14 12:55 AM Hey all, looking at purchasing my first xr6 turbo this tuesday.2008 FG model 100,000 kms. with a full log bookI have a few questions regarding some concerns and price before making the purchase.Part 1looking at redbook they estimate the average price Private Price Guide$$16,600 -14,500With Average Km 90,000 - 150,000 . Now when looking on car sales the lowest you can find an FG xr6turbois about 19,000$ with 90-100,000KM but according to redbook it should about $17,000 for them. Do you thinkthat redbook have under valued the car or are people asking too much? ( not taking into consideration factory extras )Part 2My seconed question on the topic is the car im looking at has had the Turbo core replaced due to a bent a blade. All work was carried out by http://www.gcg.com.au/ with a recipt and was fixed under warranty, Is this a common issue that poeple have with any of the turbos, or is it due to over use/thrashing of the car? Just make sure it has a good service history. I don't think bent blades are a common issue it must of sucked something through to damage a blade as far as I'm aware but I'm not a mechanic but have had 2 turbos without any turbo issues on either car. GCG are a well known turbo repairer so shouldn't have any issues with the repairs. Edited 28/03/14 01:07 AM by gsd112

GCG do good work so they should have it all running well now.Yes redbook is wrong but fee free to haggle. I wouldn't be paying more than $18k for an 08 with 100,000kms. If you can't find one that cheap in good enough condition wait a bit longer. I paid $20k for an 08 2 years ago with 78,000 and it had tech pack and sunroof.
