New guy here so hi .Question for all ,I want t buy a 07 bfxr6t or a 08 fgxr6t six speed auto as a daily driver . Want it std only a tune and kn filter ,so will the bf be as quick as the fg or no hope .

FG should be quicker with just a tune and filter. However the BF is capable of making significantly more power should u decide to throw some decent cash its way.

If you're throwing decent cash at it what's an extra $1500-$2000 grand for a GTX on the FG? Still get a nicer interior then the BF and less dated look..

I faced the BF vs FG and High KM vs Near New Low Km when deciding to buy a XR6T.

And to be honest, it's worth to spend 10k More and get a Low KM FG New Car smell straight body and smooth paint, rather than spend 10k Less and get one with 150,000 More KM on it, my logic was well what the hell if I'm going to go buying a used FG at 180,000KM why not just get a used BF or BA. That being said the FG's dont seem to give too much troubles apart from the common diff bush the biggest problem is how the owner treated it. Hint look for rubber on the RH Rear exhaust hanger as every-time you do a burnout the rubber sticks to the grease on that exhaust hanger

I'm Seeing stock ones run anywhere from 106 upto 110mph Terminal speeds it's amazing that they are that much quicker than the SS allthough the power delivery seems very doughy, Press throttle 30%, doesn't do much, then 35% Throttle and the computer gives it full power all of a sudden and your chirping the wheels. Sometimes it feels like at certain throttle positions it holds back the power more than others, I'm not sure if BF's or BA's behave like this. But once you get used to it it's not too bad, apparently tuning can get rid of this and make the throttle response 1:1.

On the comment of there not being choice in WA, it's True. Much harder when looking for FG, there are truck loads of XR6's and not many Turbos, and for Turbos most are boring colours and harder to find leather and other options. When I found Nitro Blue with Leather, Tech Pack and the lot, Near New KM I had to have it.

I love how the Gearbox Behaves in the FG so for guys Considering BF's make sure you get the ZF 6 Speed and I take it all BF Turbos had it?

Be sure the car runs right and doesn't do any weird things as it's hard to know the history and how people have been tinkering with it in the past, re-tuning etc.

The throttle progression is actually pretty linear. The thing that causes you to think it's not is that their needs to be load on the engine as well as RPM to get the Turbo going. With a light right foot, the engine doesn't load up much and will stay below 2500RPM so the Turbo never really kicks in. Once you hit the point where it spools easily, that's when it all of a sudden comes alive.

If you drive a SC GS or GT, you'll notice it's much more linear because it doesn't have the engine load to spool feeling.

You've got a lot of reading to do, have a look in the 300 and 400rwkw sections and find the BAs in there would be the best bet. Same as the BFs really. cooler/cat/inj/valve springs for fun streetable power...but beware the BA rods are not as strong as BFs after 06/06.

Avoid the "glass" 5sp manual BAs in case you aren't aware.
